Look what the President said about unions!
"THEY REMIND US that where free unions and collective bargaining are
forbidden, freedom is lost. THEY REMIND US that freedom is never
more than one generation away from extinction. You and I must
protect and preserve freedom here or it will not be passed on to our
children and it will disappear everywhere in the world."

Can you beleive that?

Course....it wasn't Obama.....It was REAGAN!

Hear him for yourself at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?

1. He also called it an elemental human right:
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/02/25/flashback-reagan-union-right/

"By outlawing Solidarity, a free trade organization to which an overwhelming majority of Polish workers and farmers belong, they have made it clear that they never had any intention of restoring one of the most elemental human rights — the right to belong to a free trade union."

4. No one is saying you cannot belong to one
they are just saying that if you happen to belong to a union, it will have no right to represent you. While you and I might see this as the same thing, I am sure for the right wing somehow this distinction "preserves freedom".

2. Obama will just wait until one side appears to be winning,
and then join it. It's the classic mark of this follower President.

12. Nope, try realistic
"And understand this: If American workers are being denied their right to organize and collectively bargain when I’m in the White House, I will put on a comfortable pair of shoes myself, I’ll will walk on that picket line with you as President of the United States of America. Because workers deserve to know that somebody is standing in their corner."

Barack Obama, 2007

I'm waiting with baited breath for Obama to break out that comfy pair of shoes. I guess you'll just defend him regardless of what he does, just like Republicans did with Bush.

3. And I'm a firm believer that actions speak louder than words:
Reagan fires 11,000 striking air traffic controllers Aug. 5, 1981

"On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan fired more than 11,000 air traffic controllers who ignored his order to return to work. The sweeping mass firing of federal employees slowed commercial air travel, but it did not cripple the system as the strikers had forecast."

6. It was illegal for them to strike, I believe. He had the upper hand.
Reagan was one major plane crash from leaving office in complete disgrace.

11. The law was passed in response to the PATCO strike.
"It was in recognition of this that the Congress passed a law forbidding strikes by government employees against the public safety. Let me read the solemn oath taken by each of these employees, a sworn affidavit, when they accepted their jobs: "I am not participating in any strike against the Government of the United States or any agency thereof, and I will not so participate while an employee of the Government of the United States or any agency thereof."
