Union leaders react, Republican dissenter gives his take

Leaders of two major public-sector unions Wednesday night sharply criticized Gov. Scott Walker and Senate Republicans for pushing through a bill to curtail most collective bargaining rights of public workers.

Wisconsin Education Associatoin Council president Mary Bell called on Wisconsin teachers to be at work Thursday.

"We will not back down ... we will continue this fight," she said in a statement.

Wisconsin State Employees Union executive director Marty Beil said, "Tonight, Scott Walker and his cronies in the Senate Republicans turned our proud state of Wisconsin into a banana republic."
