"Heaven and earth were created all together in the same instant, on October 23rd, 4004 BC at nine o''clock in the morning."
Professor John Lightfoot, Vice-chancellor of Cambridge University

"Rail travel at high speed is not possible, because passengers, unable to breathe, would die of asphyxia."
Dr Dionysus Lardner (1793-1859), professor of Natural Philosophy and Astronomy, University College London.

"Animals, which move, have limbs and muscles. The earth does not have limbs and muscles; therefore it does not move."
Scipio Chiaramonti, Professor of Philosophy and Mathematics at the University of Pisa (1633).

"Television won''t be able to hold on to any market it captures after the first six months. People will soon get
tired of staring at a plywood box every night."
Darryl F. Zanuck, head of 20th Century-Fox in 1946.

6. And something else to ponder...
Why do we think we will find them before they find us? Is it that we consider ourselves more intelligent? How do we know that?

8. well
If they find us first, and they are anything like us, we are doomed.

If we do find them first, they are doomed.

Whoever gets found is the lesser.

How do we know they wouldn't look like cows, for example??

11. What I mean is...
...if they are greedy warmongers like us, then we are in trouble.
We'll be like the universes Native American Indians.

There is a theory that we are cattle in the pasture and one day we shall be led to slaughter, like cows, by the alien cowboys.

12. Their motto will probably be:
Trust, But Verify? They will have enough weapons of unknowable power to destroy our entire planet, just like we will have when we visit them. The question is: Are they ahead of us or behind us?? How far advanced would they be? If they find us first, does that mean they are more advanced than we? How does the Earth survive against such unknowable enemies?
