(Reuters) - The former top U.S. general in Afghanistan Stanley McChrystal, who was fired when he enraged the White House by disparaging the Obama administration in a magazine article, will publish his first memoir, the Penguin Group said on Wednesday. The memoir, which will detail McChrystal's 38-year army career including his development strategies as the former top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, will be published in 2012 but has yet to be titled, Penguin said.
"I've served with many outstanding leaders and have learned from their success, their failures, and what it takes to win on the battlefield and in large, complex organizations," McChrystal said in a statement. "The lessons I've learned will help readers in the military, government, and the private sector."
McChrystal announced in June he would retire from the Army after he and his aides enraged the White House by disparaging Vice President Joe Biden and other top civilian advisers in an article for Rolling Stone magazine.
