Another $20 Billion Down The MIC Shithole
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here. It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: The United States Navy is getting 20 more $500+ million dollar Littoral Combat Ships.

The original Deepwater estimate for these things was $200 million dollars a pop. LCS #1 came in a $584 million dollars; LCS #2 came in at $704 million dollars. So what do we do? Build 20 more of them. :(

The Navy had intended to choose this year between competing LCS designs from Lockheed Martin and Austal USA, but on Nov. 3 the service revealed its desire to buy 10 more ships of each design - a move that needs Congressional approval. Pictured here is Lockheed's littoral combat ship Freedom.

With the House’s passage of a federal funding bill Dec. 21, the U.S. Navy received the necessary congressional permission to buy both versions of the Littoral Combat Ship.

6. And why not buy . . . both?
Now there's some fiscal responsibility for ya! Just in case Al Qaeda ever decides to build a navy, we've got two (count 'em!) versions of the LCS. Please wait here while the hawks in Congress ponder whether that's enough . . .
