what's been going on in Wisconsin and other states regarding workers and collective bargaining. And watch the MSM news coverage should their be a shutdown of NFL football.

3. They should be upset with an owner's lockout that's based on the same principle.
That principle being: ownership decides they want to take an extra 18% pay without reason. Labor says, we can negotiate on specific percentages, but do you mind telling us why this is necessary? Ownership says no, we're just going to either take 1/5 of your pay and you'll like it, or we'll lock you out.

Granted, the pay scale and the value they provide to society should warrant more concern from the teachers. But if Americans can understand these issues through the spectrum of the NFL, we might be able to speak to people who aren't already hearing the truth about these labor issues.

4. Personally, I hope for a lockout/walkout. That might kill the
stupid Vikings Stadium bill that's bound to be passed this year in Minnesota. The L.A. Vikings has a nice ring to it, I think.

No Public Money for Professional Sports Facilities!

5. You betcha! It's the new American Dream: becoming a football star.

To hell with all that education stuff...I'll just play football and get my brains beat out!

The NFL is far too important to many, many people. imho

edit: Are there unions involved?

8. The NFLPA is a union
You might want to look into it.

6. Isn't it weird how the billionaire owners' lockout is timed w/ similar actions around the world?
The NFL CBA was set to expire next year, but the billionaire owners voted to void it early. And their negotiations will come to a head at the exact same time as all these extreme anti-labor actions from governors and other world leaders are taking place.

7. The walkout/lockout would upset America if it occurred during football season canceling games
An off-season event is far less likely to enrage the masses. Ask this question again in September.

9. I wonder what the breakdown is
Between the number of people who follow the news closely and those who follow the NFL closely. Whatever that breakdown is will probably tell you which event will elicit more of a reaction. Though like another poster said, the fact that it's the off-season will mitigate the damage.

10. when it comes the media will bash the players
and ignore how much money the owners make off their teams. Every time there is a work stoppage in sports it's player A is getting X but never a word on the owners 'salaries, free stadiums, franchise capital gain etc... It's amazing that the same thing happens every time.
