NJ Gov. Chris Christie claims: I can beat Obama in 2012
By JEFF EDELSTEIN & SULAIMAN ABDUR-RAHMAN

TRENTON — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he “already knows” he could win a race for the presidency in 2012, according to an interview published Tuesday night in the National Review.

“I have people calling me and saying to me, ‘Let me explain to you how you could win.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re barking up the wrong tree. I already know I could win.’ That’s not the issue,” Christie told the magazine.

Christie repeatedly states he won’t seek the GOP nomination in 2012, although this statement is certainly his strongest when it comes to the idea of running for president.

“I see the opportunity both at the primary level and at the general election level,” Christie said in the interview. But then he backpedaled, as he’s done every other time he’s hinted at presidential ambitions by saying he doesn’t believe he’s ready to serve as commander-in-chief... The first-term governor nowadays is being featured as a prominent guest on talk shows and is also embracing the full swing of social media outlets like YouTube and Twitter...

6. I believe he is setting himself up for a late entry into the race
a-la Fred Thompson last time.

After 25 debates, Republican voters may be completely sick of the field. They may be ready for a take charge plain speaker.

That would be Christie's opening.

I don't think he'd play well in 25 debates though. I think his schtick would get stale.

I actually think he would be one of the more difficult Republicans for Obama to beat.

I can't think of a recent case where someone entering significantly later than the others won. I suspect that it might be that in each party, there are a number of "strategists" who have run campaigns and they would likely be reluctant to leave a candidate - unless forced out - once they sign on.

I agree that 25 debates with his bullying would be enough to get people to dislike him. In NJ, he was pretty low key in the primary - posing as the moderate to Steve Lonigan's RW positions. He never in the primary or general election did anything other than speak in generalities. (He did have some baggage - including having hit a bike rider, while driving the wrong way on a one way street and then intimidating the cop from ticketing him because he was a federal prosecutor. (Note how the NJ paper covered it - http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/09/gop_gov_candidate_chris_christ_2.html It didn't hurt him then, but with his "bully" image this and the earlier incident could be cast as a pattern of intimidating others and thinking rules are not for him. )

23. You've already committed political suicide.
. . . .by joining Kasich the Fascist, Scott the RepubliBot and Hosni Walker in declaring war on labor.

Some republicans on Facebook yesterday made their views against Kasich known. So really, it leads me to believe that only the too-far-goners voted for that asshole.

Chris Christie happens when you don't VOTE. Think about that next time you want to "send a message" . . . YES, the Alternative IS SIMPLY THAT BAD.

25. Is Christie a chickenhawk ?????
If not, he stands no chance with Republion voters.
As the record shows, they only back chickenhawks -- and they have sooo many big mouth chickenhawks to choose from.

I reckon they will choose Newtie, since he's not only a chickenhawk, but also a class-A hypocrite, and that's another mandatory 'qualification' for being a republicon 'leader.'
