I'm a delivery driver. There are many thousands like me.

If you buy something, it usually arrives by truck.

My employer, and all the other employers, will pass along these increased costs to the rest of you and me.

Everything you need from food to home supplies to toilet paper is going to go up in price. Been in a grocery store lately? Whoa.

Hello, inflation. Hello, trouble.

Who wins? Wall Street oil speculators. Who loses? You and me.

And the beatdown of workers in America shall continue until morale improves.

After all, taxes are at an all-time low and profits are high.

:sigh:

By the way, my ass is sore. The roads and infrastructure around here are in pretty bad shape.

1. Another odd unrec -- there's a furtive "pro-inflation" squad at DU now?

2. I was amazed when I filled up my tank the other day. It went up 45cents since my last fill up.
It was a little funny everyone else at the gas station was asking about my Prius' mileage. Usually the only people who say anything to me about my car are guys with trucks who snicker about my unmanly hybrid.

5. Yeah, my personal car is an older Civic
Even with that I notice the difference at the pump. Not so long ago a fill-up was 30 bucks, now over $40!

3. Man, my Daily Driver gets 14MPG.
But I have something in the garage that gets 100MPG.

But it only goes 42MPH, because it is a '66 Vespa with an all-steel Indian sidecar.

14MPG gets me 145MPH, so I never complain.

But I am a retailer, and your point is not only well-taken, but is affecting me in a large way

6. I paid $3.89 today for REGULAR.
I'm a courier too, and what drives me nuts is that my company makes me use my own car for deliveries (fuck insurance premiums... that's all I have to say), and I've put so many miles on what was supposed to be a new Nissan that I'm now shopping for new cars and I'm looking at hybrid models that are at, or even exceed my price range because gas is so fucking expensive. :argh:

Independent drivers like you are hit especially hard.

Everything from couriers like you to newspaper delivery folks to the big rig drivers will have to pass along money to Wall Street speculators in the oil markets.

Transfer of wealth? Double-plus yeah.

8. One day we're gonna turn the tables on Wall St.
It sucks that they're bleeding us dry and getting away with it. And what drives me nuts even more is I saw at book at Costco that was essentially blaming Obama for all of Wall St.'s crimes (it was Dick Morris after all... :puke: ). These guys are crooks - especially the oil speculators (which in and of itself is pure bullshit), and every time I see them complaining that a certain group is underpaid, I want to scream that they're overpaid.

11. This is not inflation
At least in the traditional sense.

This is yet another opportunity to bite you in the ass by the folks that have the teeth.

13. If it's not inflation, then why are prices rising?
What the hell is the 'traditional sense' of inflation?

If incomes are dropping and prices are rising, how can there be any other result than inflation?

It is true that I feel teeth on my ass.

14. Because it is not the result of market forces
The Fucking speculators are making chicken pot pie out of perceived (or even hinted-at *wink-wink*) supplies of crude oil because of the events in the middle east.

17. in 1976 President Jimmy Carter
had a plan to make the United States of America less dependent on foreign oil.

He was laughed out of office and called a fool

I call him a visionary.
