Stay Home for America!

"We're calling for a nation-wide sick-out, on March 30th! A work-stoppage might FINALLY get the point across that WE are the people who run this country, NOT the people with the money and the privilege! Let's see how they like it when things come to a screeching halt. No marching in the street. No fire-bombs. No rubber bullets. Just don't show up for work. Don't show up for school. Don't go shopping. Stay at home."

How refreshing it would be!
Having gassed up my car on the 29th, I'd spend my time driving around watching and photographing the gridlock.
Might be fun!

9. I am all for it, even though I am unemployed right now!
This might help us all.

The bottom-line is one of the few economic weapons we have against corporate rule. What we buy and who we work for effect this, as well. However, we are not yet, (emphasize yet) in concert on how to utilize our power. So, yeah, a general strike of any kind, even a token, stay home day, is really WORTH the shot. It will send a message that is hard to ignore. Kind of like a warning shot.

The problem I have here with helping to promote this is that you have to be a Facebook member to see the page. So, please do get more info publicly available early on in order that we might spread the word widely and effectively.

18. Yeah, thanks for posting it here.
I am just thinking that a website would be a good idea for those of us who don't Facebook.

I mean, it would have a greater impact if there were a link we could spread that had the general information on how, what, why, where and when. I would certainly spread it.

Maybe somebody who has hosting could set one up and, if possible have some links to relevant sites, a place to comment, etc. We could even start posting some graphics, (promo slogans/info) for posters, stickers and the like for people to print and distribute.

More Info
We're calling for a nation-wide sick-out, on March 30th! Stay at home, and read a book...! Take a walk to the park... do anything you want, except don't SPEND any money, or MAKE money for these thieves! What're they gonna do... come looking for three hundred and ten million people, and march us back to work or school? One way or another, we are going to get their attention!

The people who 'own' this country have created a situation where we are all so scared of our own shadows, that we don't even THINK about civil disobedience. We realize the gravity of people's situations all across this land... and we're thinking that this is a relatively safe way to vent some of that pressure. Without a 'safe' way to act out, we're afraid that when push DOES come to shove, it's not going to be pretty. Right now, our country is becoming like a pressure-cooker, and if that top blows, it's really going to be messy. It was thought that this is a fairly safe way to send a message without having anyone get hurt. If you can't join us in taking a day off, be sure you still spread the word!

Remember... 'United We Stand, Divided We Beg!'

21. Cool! Thanks.
That helps a lot.

It would be good to suggest that, this one day is merely a token reminder. If there is a decent amount of participation, it might be noted that the PTB should consider what it would be like if this became a trend and massive strikes broke out for longer periods.

In other words, the message should be as strong as possible while making it very clear that a massive, coordinated effort is peaceful, powerful and serious. We have no other choice, at this juncture.

25. i'm in favor of any activities that might help keep the corporate
attacks on our quality of life at bay.
a sick-out and spend no money day is good but it is not a general strike. and rather than staying at home everyone needs to be in the streets. this is what will get the attention of those in power.
people need gather in front of their local government buildings and in front of business headquarters in their neighborhoods and make their voices heard.
we must demand that the dis-credited economic policies of the past forty years be reversed and that the rich pay their share. we need to insist that our outrageous spending on defense be curtailed. and we need to throw the bums out who resist our demands.

The only thing that ever gets their attention is hitting their bottom line.

While the Egyptians were protesting, they were also striking across the nation. When the government tried to get them back to work, they refused, and more joined in the strikes.

Being nice to these corrupt, soulless criminals will never work, they have to shown what power the people have collectively, when they choose to use it. THAT is what scares them and they hope WE never realize just how much power we have.

:kick: and I hope this spreads around and is just the start of something that will keep growing until they finally get the message.

40. Why don't you start with teachers. Shutting down the schools will
simultaneously disrupt life and have a small but irritating effect on the economy.

Then threaten to do that with the cops if that doesn't get the desired effect.

Then we'll talk about a nationwide work stoppage.

I'm just sayin' it's a lot to ask of people far, far away from wisconsin who aren't in unions, can't get in a union, and aren't that effected by the goings-on in wisconsin.
