Tweety said on his show that something like...........
80% of the people in that poll KNEW about the Wisconsin uprising. AND KNEW THE REASONS FOR IT. And this with VERY little MSM coverage. Maybe there is near term hope after all.

1. I think 'unions' is a key word. Everyone (I think) knows what that's about, us versus

them for worker rights. I think once many in their own personal situation think about their job/rights they can really relate to what is going on in WI. We've needed focus for the anger, and maybe this is it!!! United we stand, divided we fall.

2. I'm also hoping that this leads to most of the people....
starting to look to "alternate" media (like these types of fora) for their news in the future.

And yes, knowing this could happen to you, WILL happen to you, is a POWERFUL focus. It also might be called empathy which is something that the RW doesn't know much about. That lack of empathy leads them to be blind about the results of their actions.

3. I live in Mississippi. The majority around here are anti-union.
But I generally blame the anti-union propaganda that is found everywhere here. Workers here scab on each other at the slightest opportunity because there is a strong and entrenched mentality of everybody-for-themselves.

5. What a shame, it seems they work against each other, just what the capitalists
generally want.

is entirely earned. There is no honesty in how so many people are helped up by others, Government programs to help with education, etc, including family. It's quite shameful that people can be so full of themselves. Oh well, pride goeth before a fall, is that the saying?

6. YEp and that's good...............
I just hope that this isn't a "one of". I hope that after this people STILL get their news from Twitter or these types of Fora. I want the MSM to become obsolete. Maybe this is the start to that.

8. Corporate Media Never Nuanced Well...
This is especially the case with the teevee where pictures are more important that context...where theatrics trump rational discussion. It just ain't sexy. People may know about something but that doesn't mean they want to know more about it or are interested. The media reacts to reactions not actions...thus it loved showing the angry teabaggers and play up their verbose and hate-filled lies as it fed the food fights...the main course on the cables today.

There are a bunch of disconnects here. The corporate media is a problem but not the only one. I think the Wisconsin protests have gotten plenty of coverage...but what kind of coverage? If you're a faux noise zombie, it's not a positive picture of the demonstrators or the unions. Unfortunately there are many who have grown up with a lot of negative impressions of unions or no knowledge about them at all...a lot of GOTB astroturfing has colme home to roost.

As usual, there's very little "Mainstream" of a media that is controlled by so few hands and its sole purpose is to generate profits for its owners. It's corporate through and through...the mainstream was chase out years ago.

Cheers...
