They travel the country to provoke people into suing them. They go to court and almost always win, so the plaintiff pays their attorneys "fees" back. They are their own attorneys. That's how they make their money.

Now they're pretty much judgement-proof, thanks the to definitive court decision. Nobody will sue them anymore, and they won't be able to fund their little demonstrations.

So if you want the Phelps family to go away - QUIT SUING THEM. They will win and you will pay - on top of all the emotional damage.

1. Some dumbass will sue them again.
They have won every court case brought against them until this point, and only an idiot would not have thought Fred had it in the bag. Plenty more idiots runnin' about.

2. I think you have it backwards
I thought their MO was to provoke someone with their incendiary rhetoric into assaulting THEM. The Phelps then turn around and sue the person whom they provoke, win, and fund their protests that way.

I don't see how the SCOTUS decision would stop that. :(

3. these people need to be shunned
the old fashion way, like the Amish. When they are in your presence, you turn your back, keep it turned and do not acknowledge their existance. You, or anyone around you are to hold your silence until they have gone. The Amish believe that a shunned person is no more a rock or a tree, and what human could honestly converse with a rock or a tree?

6. I'm just waiting for some bereaved family member to "shun" them...
...the new-fashioned way -- with a .44 between the eyes.

(And, no, I'm not calling for anyone to kill Psycho Fred or any of his kin, although I sure wouldn't shed any tears over their demise. But I can't help thinking that, now that they have full permission to get into the faces of grieving parents, siblings, spouses, and children with signs about how great it is that their loved one is burning in hell, it's only a matter of time before someone "loses it" and metes out some vigilante justice.)

4. In true Phelps fashion
they are probably working to up the ante right now. Every time they get to this point they come up with something new and horrible. Of course it will be piggy backed onto their main topic of their hatred of our LGBT citizens but wait for it. There will be something new and awful if things calm down now.
