Just canceled my subscription to the Chicago Tribune, due to its anti-union positions,
and John Kass' referring the the WI 14 as "the Flee Party". The poor customer service rep literally begged me to stay. "Have you considered writing Mr. Kass a letter telling him how you feel, rather than canceling?" "Actually, I'm going to do both".

"But think of the parts of the paper that you love". "I feel more strongly opposed to the Op-Ed content than in favor of any other section".

"Perhaps you'd like to switch to just the weekend or redeye editions." "Is their editorial content different?"

Sheesh!

1. Good for you...
Print newspapers are really hurting right now. Maybe they will think twice about publishing garbage next time.

3. I was so glad when they sold the Cubs
Now if only they would sell WGN to Ricketts as well, all my Drales sports land would be well.

4. the trib always had conservative editors, but
once upon a time, it used to be a real newspaper.

Sam Zell turned it into USA Toady Lite.

6. have you seen it since Zell raped it?
There is no news in that paper. It is embarrassing. the NY Post has more real news than it.

9. Yeah. I've come close to doing that myself...
I've been tossing the front section for years. I mostly just scan the headlines. Most of the "news" is a few days old anyway, and the editorials I seldom, if ever, agree with. Whenever I call to cancel they re-offer it to me a $1/wk (3days/week + Sunday). I still like getting the food and entertainment sections, as well as the weekly ads and coupons.

11. I was still in Iowa then, reading the Des Moines Register
which I miss desperately. A progressive newspaper. Who'd a thunk?
