Senate OKs 2-week spending bill to avoid government shutdown

The U.S. Senate has passed a two-week temporary federal spending bill that will avoid a partial government shutdown, at least for now.

It passed 91-9.

The bill, which now goes to President Obama, passed the House on Tuesday. It includes $4 billion in cuts from the current budget.

Although the bill's passage means there will be no partial shutdown on Friday, Congress will face another deadline in two weeks.
