2. Art Robinson's run against Peter DeFazio in Oregon was a test case for something like this.
Pete DeFazio is arguably a career politician. I know because I've been voting for him for years and I've kept an eye on him and there is no better representation than that which DeFazio provides.

Art Robinson, who was funded by shadowy entities and who attempted to represent himself as an "Everyday Joe" wasn't able to unseat DeFazio, but it was close-ish.

With Citizens United, expect to see a movement like GOOOH to be used as a front to funnel huge amounts of money into corporate shills all unknown, all under the guise of getting "the citizens" in power.

The reason why we vote for career politicians is that they've got a career in politics! I.E. They have a trail of behavior you can examine to determine how they are likely to vote in the future.

6. GOOOH
I've been looking into them, as there is a GOOOH Coordinator where I live - which is more than 90% Democratic. I have decided to join their MeetUp - that is how I found out all this stuff. I typed in my zip code and GOOOH and there is was!

This is what I learned:
I know they are not Republican or Democrats. They are looking for people in every district in America to run against the incumbents 2012. They are not a third party, have no political platform, and don't care what affiliation/party you have.

What I read was how they seperate a GOOOH candidate from the regular politicians with the 100+ questions. They don't care how the questions are answered, and there is no right or wrong answer, but after looking at the questions, they are designed for critical thinkers. The questions will cause you to do some deep thinking and catalyze some passionate opinions on your part. This is critical, because the answers given by your Selection Session peers to these particular questions will prove valuable in helping you decide which persons you should advance to the next round of Selection Sessions, and which you should eliminate.

For example, if you are dead-set against amending the Constitution, you should eliminate your Selection Session peers that say they will vote "for" any question that seems to advocate a Constitutional amendment. These questions are that persons' platform to run, and if elected, there is a legally binding contract that once in office, he/she will vote exactly the same as they said they would. If they get in office and cannot vote the same way on an issue, there is a quarem whereby the Congressman posts on their website in detail why he/she feels the need to change his/her mind. The people in that district vote yea/nay. If he still votes against their decision, he has 72 hours to leave office.

The other interesting thing is that they cannot accept a dime of money other than their federal paycheck. $174,000 as it stands. They also have set term limits of 4 years. They also don't have to spend their time raising money for the campaign, and cannot accept more than $500 when they are finally chosen from all the other GOOOH candidates, and begin their campaign - which they run soley at their discretion. This removes the back-door deals and favors. It costs millions to campaign.

The GOOOH members donate $100 each, whether they run or not, and that money is pooled for the National Campaign. The districts with 250 members or more are running this 2012, so it seems to me a great idea for democrats to also get in the mix, since in the end, the District GOOOH members will elect you, and we deserve a voice! Even if you do not wish to be selected as your district’s candidate you will need to follow the six steps listed on their website to participate in the Candidate Selection Sessions. If you do not participate, you will not have input into who is chosen as your district's GOOOH candidate. You should participate to improve the odds that the candidate selected in your district represents your views.

So, in short, after careful study, I found that you can vote for the GOOOH candidate, who has documented their view on every key issue of the day, has agreed to be held accountable, has not accepted a penny from any special interest group, will not be told how to vote, will vote for term limits, and is NOT a career politician. While I do not personally want to run (my wife forbids it), I do know very intelligent, hard working and honest people I think would make a good Congressman. I also like that I am not told by a "party" who I have to choose from because I would rather choose someone based on their own merits and talents and personality than be told who "they" chose to put their money behind. Just a thought.
