Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez: U.S. distorting situation in #Libya 'to justify an invasion' - CNN

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez claims U.S. criticism of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has a clear aim: military invasion.

"Let's not get carried away by the drums of war, because the United States, I am sure that they are exaggerating and distorting things to justify an invasion," Chavez said Monday, according to Venezuelan state media.

At a Monday meeting of the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the United States was exploring "all possible options," and that "nothing is off the table so long as the Libyan government continues to threaten and kill Libyan citizens."

Asked at a news conference Monday whether the United States planned an imminent military response in Libya, Clinton said, "No."

2. Exaggerating? What nonsense.
And the U.S. is hardly the only nation criticizing Ghadafi.

3. This guy is all over the map....
This could be a case for Italian forces to go in to stabilize the situation because of potential refuge problems and then again, there is that Punic War that has been simmering for 2300 years or so...

Seriously, this guy is off the wall on this one.

6. What does Chavez say about the people dying in the streets?
And his friend's instigation of those events?

Chavez is not doing himself any favors here.

8. Obama is not Bush.
We are not going to invade.

Everyone in power would have rather this whole revolution didn't happen in the first place, but the regimes violent death grip on the country fanned the flames of the situation.

I expect us to support the pro-democracy movement however we can, and fulfill whatever reasonable request they ask of us, but it's clear they don't want US or NATO troops in their country.
