Navy to Disestablish 19 NJROTC Units
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here.

unhappycamper summary of this article: I suspect this is a result of our economic meltdown. I doubt the Navy would voluntarily close a JROTC recruiting station if they had the bucks.

1. They got to start somewhere.
I mean "show" somewhere.

NJROTC -- and all the Junior ROTC programs -- are enlistment tools. The thing is, they also do a good job of helping foster good character in young people. Most of the officer corps are, IMO, outstanding men and women who know right from wrong.
