AZ majority leader State Senate Domestic Violence Incident - says immune from arrest
Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 05:53 PM by RamboLiberal
Scott Bundgaard, R-Peoria, the majority leader of the Arizona state Senate, was briefly taken into custody with marks on his body Saturday, indicating he had been involved in a fight, an act of domestic violence, Phoenix police officers said.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said police responded to a call of a man pulling a woman out of a gold vehicle, which was stopped northbound next to the median on Arizona 51, just south of Cactus Road.

PHOENIX - Police say an Arizona state senator was immune from arrest when he and his girlfriend were involved in a domestic violence situation Friday night in Phoenix.

Officers responded to a call of a man pulling a woman out of a vehicle, which was stopped next to the median on State Route 51 just south of Cactus Road around 11 p.m., said Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department.

According to Thompson, Bundgaard is indeed immune from arrest because the legislature is currently in session.

In article he tells cops because he is a state senator he is immune from arrest & they agree. What is this BS of immunity. Again wonderful Repuke family values at work!

So if one of these clowns committed murder while legislature was in session they'd be immune from arrest?

1. that is pretty standard
if he was traveling to or from his job as state senator. US reps and Sen are similarly immune. That said, I hope his constituents end his immunity and his career.

2. I thought that didn't apply
to serious crimes and I consider assault serious.

3. Immunity from arrest does not apply to felonies.
From the facts I have read in this case this would not be prosecuted as a felony in AZ.
