A look at vote-counting in Ireland

As you probably know, Ireland is now counting the ballots after a general election that promises to bring many changes to the country's politcal landscape.

However, I was most impressed by the below photo, taken in County Leitrim" of the vote-counting process. Not only are hard-copy ballots being counted by hand, but it appears the public is allowed to stand over and watch!

2. That's what we need, hand counted ballots, and

being able to stand over them and watch them. That's true democracy.

4. Union made duplicate ballots, one for

for the scanner, one ballot to be hand counted by the people before leaving the polling place.

Machine checks the hand count the hand count checks the machine COUNT

Ballot by Ballot Tally Method....

One person reads the vote outloud another observes, the other person puts a hash on the tally sheet another observes. With the internet the whole world would be able to observe. Totals posted online before the ballots leave the polling place :)

6. Why?

Why go to all that trouble?
We have machines that do all that.
The republicans were nice enough to hand out 4 billion dollars so that every voting place could have a machine that counts votes.

Is there something about the republicans being nice to us, and counting our votes for us, that disagrees with your idea of democracy by the people?

7. Nobody seems to notice nobody seems to care

the politicians mean nothing, their just there to give you the idea that you have a choice and unless we get rid of the secret electronic ballot counting machines and go back to Hand Counted Paper Ballots we will continue to believe that we elected these c..s.ck.rs.

Bloody forehead from beating against the wall of denial, that's all.

Was told just the other day that there may be vote stealing but there is no evidence of any widespread conspiracy.

Which is a damned denial of the fact one private company counts 80% of the votes in the whole country.

People care, kster, they just don't what they can do.

After all these years of actions from you, and millions of others, it boils down to this:
One must work on a local level to make sure proper audits are made to happen.
