The Craigslist Congressman and the Crossdressing Prostitute

Remy Stern — The Craigslist Congressman and the Crossdressing ProstituteChris Lee's resignation from the House on Feb. 9 may be the quickest political downfall in history: It came just three hours after Gawker published a photo of Lee standing in the mirror shirtless, along with a story about how the married congressman dabbled in a little online dating on Craigslist.

Lee's sudden exit took many people by surprise. Hadn't other members of Congress admitted to worse than an unconsummated, PG-13 flirtation and managed to stay in office? It turns out Lee may have had good reason to step out of the spotlight so quickly: It wasn't just women that the Craigslist Congressman was hunting for on the Internet.

2. A morally conflicted Republican politician is a feature, not a negative.
The ones that scream loudest for some mythically vague "family values" law and order are most likely compromised themselves. But as long as they are useful idiots, willing to toe the Party line - vote-wise, their 'indulgences' are overlooked. I suspect there's plenty of veiled threats/blackmail leverage within that Party. They are in the closet of their own making. If they're outed, of course, all bets are off and they are quickly disowned. But the Party lives another day to promote an anti-socialist with behavioral problems.

I thought his resignation was way too quick. Typically, a Republican will drag this out for a few days or weeks. Not Lee. I knew this was a pre-emptive action at further character damage control. Guess it failed.

3. Still don't see why he quit over it

Any politician worth his pay grade would have claimed it was all a big mistake and/or a setup, hauled his wife in front of the cameras for a StandByYourMan moment, and moved on

Still seems fishy

6. that he used a publicly tracable email shows he was comfortable
putting that info out there. How long had he been doing stuff like this before he got that careless? I agree there must be even more evidence of his activities out there.

8. One of these days, one of these guys is
going get elected, continue to have a very gratifying, successful,(if pragmatically quiet) open relationship with a wife he TRULY enjoys having sex with (AFTER never having claimed any kind of moral high ground in the public political arena), get caught NOT exactly hiding it, and it will be the biggest "not"-sex sex scandal ever. The party of Newt, understandably, will have a collective brain hemorrhage on that day.

Yes, the above is an unlikely scenario, I admit. but wouldn't it be fun to watch the press conference with a politician who talked it over with his wife, decided everything that was good for the goose was going to HAVE to be good for the gander, answer ALL questions honestly, and watch the press NOT know what the hell to do with that person???=)=)=)

as a related question, is it REALLY possible to be married to a person, and not AT LEAST suspect that something like this is going on?????? That your husband is actually quite comfortable with the idea that "if Mistress MAKES you do it, then its not gay."????

just sayin, most of the women --I--know are smart enough to know what their Man is up to....
