Where is the President??
Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 10:29 AM by SHRED

The Wisconsin demonstrators have crerated an opening.
An opening to defend labor and therefore the middle class.

He has an opportunity to get in the mix now and really get the whole message out about what the conservative right has done over the 8 years under Bush II, 8 years under Regan and 4 years under Bush I, that is 20 years of Republican bullshit that has brought our great country to its knees.

Where the fuck is he?

:banghead:

1. I know that it was a typo, but...
I think that "pervious" is a great way to describe the Reagan/Bush/Bush Jr years.

2. I think the President is being advised otherwise...
Politically, the White House sees this a positive just with the direction it is going at the present time. They see a political plus in not getting involved. The people of America are awakening to what is really happening with the Republicans and their anti-union crusade, led by Governor Walker or whomever is pulling the strings.

I do not think the President is staying out of this fight for any other reason than that he sees it is in his advantage as it is presently progressing...

you should see the LTTEs in my local rag. I won't ruin your day with a link.

They WANT to make this into an Obama issue, instead of what it is.

9. He has got to stay out of this.
If he goes to Wisconsin it becomes all about Obama and Walker wins. I think he is playing it smart. I also think the logistical security nightmare of going to a Madison protest rally or any of the other state protests is daunting beyond words.

10. That's true. The security issue would be a nightmare
But he could be a lot more vocal about this from Washington. He wouldn't even have to lower himself by speaking Walkers name, all he has to do is take a hard stand for Unions against him.

Like planning how much Social Security to cut for the Shared-Sacrifice Class?

Perhaps he'll sup tonight with the Predator Class, nibbling on foie gras and sipping sumptuous wines. Everyone will be in formal attire, and the music will be wonderful.

16. So you want him in the mix.....just like gdubya used to be.
Interesting. He could be out there shooting off his mouth, undermining the protesters and not letting them do what needs to be done. He could be yelling hey look at me, I'm the important one here. Maybe he could issue a dead or alive comment...that would make him look tough.

It looks to me like after the years of republican bullshit some people came to expect it as normal for a president. It isn't. It's foolish rhetoric that does nothing to promote success.

The President is where he belongs on this, working behind the scenes, sending Organizing for America to do the job.

Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 12:54 PM by kenny blankenship
Do you really want the Great Capitulator taking a leading role in the labor cause?

Public employees would not only stand to lose all collective bargaining rights, but they would probably end up having to work through Christmas.

We can't have people thinking the president might be a liberal. That would not be pragmatic. Or sensible.

The national Dems and the POTUS administration involvement would make this about them. It's about the middle class - let's keep it that way.
