Poll question: Are you now, or have you ever been....
...A proud union member? :patriot: Check in!

I've listed the biggest, but a lot will be "other" -- mine, UA, just a little smaller in membership than the top 8.

If you've been more than one, pick the longest membership. :)

44. Yes.
UCU, the British university and college teachers' union.

Until recently, it was pretty wishy-washy, but now it's finding its teeth, and fighting for its own members and in solidarity with the students; and I can genuinely call myself a *proud* member.

50. Me too - growing up in Virginia you are basically trained out of even considering it
brainwashed if you will

there are some big unions here:
Railroads - my father-in-law and his family prospered exceedingly due to him having a union job
Phillip Morris - Richmond
The Shipyard in Newport News
and the A-B brewery in Williamsburg

all of these areas benefitted from a union presence in terms of wages being higher than they would without them. This is a fact that is completely ignored around here.

In south and southwest Va they used to have textile industries but those got shipped overseas partly to avoid unions and they are the poorest parts of the state.
