I would personally like to thank Scott Walker.
Because of his stupidity, unwillingness to compromise, and hubris, he has managed to start something that many people were unsure could be ignited again. He has solidified and set the progressive base on fire. I also believe because of his continued missteps, he will feed that fire enough to keep it blazing for a long time.

In addition, he is managing to begin to alienate independents and showing Gawd and everybody that the GOP is cahooting with corporate extremists. While that should have been transparent to everyone, the dots have been hard to connect at times. Because of a prank phone call and other moves that are being exposed, the dots have been connected with a six lane highway.

The other benefit of his prolonged stunt is that he is dragging down other GOP governors with him. While they were trying to skulk around and pass even more extreme measures, Walker drew attention to them and their maneuvering. In doing so, the fire spread even more.

While I would like President Obama to get involved more on one hand, I believe it is much better for him to remain quiet. If he speaks up loudly, the protests will instantly be tied to him, and it will be made to appear that he is orchestrating the whole backlash. It is much better if this remains an openly grassroots movement. In that way, it can draw in many people who may have qualms about him but are moving toward the side of the protests.

President Obama is getting smacked for not walking with the protesters. At this point, the best thing he can do is to take the hits. The fastest way to slow down this movement is to have the argument sidetracked into a debate about what he is doing.

So in honor of Scott Walker, I dedicate this song today:

Thanks for the restart Governor Kindling.

1. Yeah, Scott has done more for creating a resistance movement
in the Democratic Party than anyone has been able to do in the last 20 years. Maybe now mainline Democrats will start to get the picture and go back to representing Americans.

Thank you Scottie.

2. Scott Walker has Cheeze Whiz for brains
National, State, and local newspapers have all run negative articles on him.

He's exposed himself as Gov for 2 Kansas billionaires rather than for 5.7 million Wisconsinites.

In a democracy, that sort of taint would end a career.

Here on the frontier of what Chomsky calls economic fascism, Scotty is turning his cheddar economics into something more evil smelling than Limburger.

3. Walker witlessly set himself ablaze and has spread a fire that's spreading out of control
of those like him who would like to stamp it out. I've thought that from the beginning here in Wisconsin.

It started here, but unfortunately Wisconsin will be the first to suffer. Even now hundreds of teachers are getting lay-off notices because it is not known if they will have contracts or not. But if Walker and his cohorts have their way it will only be the start. Here in Wisconsin is now the front for this battle and if any quarter is given to the opposition it will only encourage and embolden them.

As things stand now, Walker will not budge at all. When not in power, Republicans will always beg Democrats for compromise and concessions (and often get them) but they will never consider them when they have control. Walker believes that his election was somehow some kind of huge mandate (he won by less than 125,000 votes and 600,000 fewer Democrats showed up to vote than did in 2008), but he is going to find that many union members are also Republicans who voted for him and they are not happy now to have their own livelihoods threatened (they do lack empathy, but are less than happy when they get hurt).

As a Wisconsinite, I would prefer that Obama and other big names who have no direct dog in the fight here support the cause, but stay away. This is a people's protest, and someone like Obama would only be a distraction from the cause and the movement.

8. Thank you
so very true that he has to walk a very fine line in about everything he does in this poisoned political climate we have today brought on largely by the whupping Clinton did to poppy. After that election the crazies started crawling out of the wood work and our political discourse hasn't been the same since. Couple that with the fact that the retillicons decided after Nixon's fall that if they wanted to get anything passed for themselves and their corporations they were going to have to control the message that is fed us voters so they began to buy the media companies one by one to where they now control 90 plus percent of what we see, read or hear concerning what is really happening in the world around us. President Obama is playing this with the hand that has been dealt him and he is not wavering one iota. Good on him. I want him to be my next President too and not some crazy ass bastard like the retillicons will run against him. :hi:

Haven't been seeing much of you lately, hope everything is ok.
