Press Release: #OpWisconsin -Anonymous

Press Release: #OpWisconsin

Dear Citizens of the United States of America,

It has come to our attention that the brothers, David and Charles Koch--the billionaire owners of Koch Industries--have longattempted to usurp American Democracy. Their actions to undermine the legitimate political process in Wisconsin are thefinal straw. Starting today we fight back.

Koch Industries, and oligarchs like them, have most recently started to manipulate the political agenda in Wisconsin.Governor Walker's union-busting budget plan contains a clause that went nearly un-noticed. This clause would allow the saleof publicly owned utility plants in Wisconsin to private parties (specifically, Koch Industries) at any price, no matter howlow, without a public bidding process. The Koch's have helped to fuel the unrest in Wisconsin and the drive behind the bill toeliminate the collective bargaining power of unions in a bid to gain a monopoly over the state's power supplies.

The Koch brothers have made a science of fabricating 'grassroots' organizations and advertising campaigns to support them inan attempt to sway voters based on their falsehoods. Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth and Citizens United are justa few of these organizations. In a world where corporate money has become the lifeblood of political influence, the labor unions are one of the few ways citizens have to fight against corporate greed. Anonymous cannot ignore the plight of thecitizen-workers of Wisconsin, or the opportunity to fight for the people in America's broken political system. For thesereasons, we feel that the Koch brothers threaten the United States democratic system and, by extension, all freedom-lovingindividuals everywhere. As such, we have no choice but to spread the word of the Koch brothers' political manipulation, their single-minded intent and the insidious truth of their actions in Wisconsin, for all to witness.

Anonymous hears the voice of the downtrodden American people, whose rights and liberties are being systematicallyremoved one by one, even when their own government refuses to listen or worse - is complicit in these attacks.
We areactively seeking vulnerabilities, but in the mean time we are calling for all supporters of true Democracy, and Freedom of The People, to boycott all Koch Industries' paper products. We welcome unions across the globe to join us in this boycott
to show that you will not allow big business to dictate your freedom.

54. Thank you for the list....
This list should be posted daily on DU....someone tell Skinner. He won't listen to me.

And really we should use cloth towels and napkins so trees aren't used for this purpose. I rarely use paper plates or cups. TP? I can't come up w/ an alternative....But I do like Aldi's TP. Cheap yet serviceable.

50. Can't tell if you're joking.
Either way, you're not wrong on the ethical point. Unfortunately, the law has been usurped and many operate above it. They are indeed breaking laws, but are protected from consequences. There are times when the only way to stop powerful lawbreakers is to break laws that might otherwise protect them.

If they forsake the rule of law, they shall forsake its protections.

42. Well, yes, it would be wrong
:eyes:

And none of us would ever encourage such a thing.

However! All is fair in love and war ~

The people have been ambushed, law-abiding citizens were not aware of the enemy within, spying on them, plotting to take away their rights, spending huge amounts of money to impoverish them by attacking their jobs, their benefits, their represnetatives. Killing any real hope of a decent medical care system etc. etc.

So far, the people have been on the defensive, merely reacting to whatever the latest assault on them might be.

Since the Koch Brothers have essentially declared war on the American worker, I would see nothing at all wrong if those workers were to have someone on THEIR side who might do some 'investigative' work, such as finding out their plans by confiscating their emails, eg.

Surely there would be nothing wrong with the people using the same weapons that are used against them.

Opposition Research, I think it's called??

Anonymous might be helpful in doing some of this research.

28. Weather looks good at 7:30AM
here in the Bay Area. This bodes well for a good turn out today at noon in SF at the plaza. I also saw on the news last night of all places, KTVU, that the Libyan sympathizers were planning a demo at that plaza (UN Plaza across from Civic Center in SF) today.

But no mention of the rallies in solidarity with Wisconsin and unions across America. Of course, KTVU is owned by FUXX. They spent the first 15 minutes highlighting the "chance," of snow at sea level overnight. Breathless reports from 4 different locations about the threat of flurries. They did show some flurries on Hwy 17 near Santa Cruz, shortlived, but a novelty for many Californians. Imagine in Wisconsin they have been demonstrating inside and out, before, during and after real blizzards that dump 10 inches that doesn't disappear and temps below 20 degrees.

As for this Anonymous decree, I'm sure the Clown Car Contingent hereabouts will show up to object to any suggestions of disruption that might violate some law or in some way make the movement look bad by putting cyber-pressure on the Koch Industries groups. Same ones that want to lynch Assange in the US, for wait for it......treason. Yup, treason for exposing the war crimes that apparently are ongoing in this administration. They for sure are CONCERNED about threats to US security but care little for popular uprisings or war crimes as a result of US abuses/lies/murders.

36. So much news, so little time
I don't mean to snow on your parade, but having grown up in Madison, WI, I have no desire to ever experience it again, which I say every time I'm fishing in the Sierra and an unexpected squall makes my day white, or I have to trundle through 3 feet of it up at Lake Almanor just to get to the fish. Almanor is about 3200 ft. and does not freeze, unlike Lake Davis, which freezes every December or so.

Are you going to the rally today?

I think we need a call to rallies on DU

Wear your red for solidarity with Wisconsin!

On, Wisconsin!

16. Seems that illegal acts are only in the eye of the republican beholder.
The Koch's are a threat to our Democracy, to the middle class workers and to our nation's national security. With their interests founded in the dismantling of a viable middle class which is the very foundation of our country, I see them as a criminal element that should be investigated just like the Mafia. Kick backs, buying public officials, haven't we seen this somewhere before? Who sought to destroy the trade unions in history? I think we all know the answer to that one.

Why are you so CONCERNED about what Anonymous is or isn't doing?

Seems they are doing just fine to me.

How many folks do you suppose are working with/for them?

Maybe they have limited resources?

Just interesting that you would choose to sew dissatisfaction with Anon at a time like this.

Situation in US and elsewhere is fluid. Things can change in an instant.

in reference to this protest against the scientology cult.

The Scientologists refused to get her the medical treatment she needed and she died in their "care."

Just because an organization is wealthy, has celebrities as part of it, or uses propaganda to "normalize" itself - that doesn't mean it's not a cult. (also c.f. fundamentalism)

31. On that point, I saw a program
on AlJazeera yesterday, a panel discussion at Columbian University in NYC, for the program "Empire," on AJE.

They were discussing Wikileaks and the scope/threat/weaknesses/strengths, etc., of their work.

One of the panelists, a woman from Silicon Valley I believe, were discussing the phenonmena of social networks and the part they play in the current uprisings in Egypt, Bahrain, etc. It was noted that when a government shuts down, then re-opens access to such social networks that some governments have laid traps, using the social network com traffic to locate dissidents. This woman asserted that it is just not governments that are doing this, that corps have led the way in invading such internet services and use something she referred to as PDIs, and they were defined as Package, something, Intrusions, or something like cookies or tracking devices to monitor the behavior of citizen users. It started as a means to retrieve consumer data to be use in marketing campaigns, but the obvious potential for monitoring was not lost on governments.

Anyone here know more of what she was talking about?
