Libya on Wes Clark's hit list, only one left ?

According to General Wesley Clark--the Pentagon, by late 2001, was Planning to Attack Lebanon

"Winning Modern Wars" (page 130) General Clark states the following:

"As I went back through the Pentagon in November 2001, one of the senior military staff officers had time for a chat. Yes, we were still on track for going against Iraq, he said. But there was more. This was being discussed as part of a five-year campaign plan, he said, and there were a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.

Lebanon 2006

The 2006 Lebanon War, also called the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah War and known in Lebanon as the July War<30> (Arabic: حرب تموز‎, Ḥarb Tammūz) and in Israel as the Second Lebanon War (Hebrew: מלחמת לבנון השנייה‎, Milhemet Levanon HaShniya),<31> was a 34-day military conflict in Lebanon and northern Israel. The principal parties were Hezbollah paramilitary forces and the Israeli military.

1. Was Wes Clark endorsing this?
Is he a neocon, too?

We know about the neocons' PNAC plan. As I understand it, they envisioned a great conflict between the West and Islam in the middle of this century, and they devised a plan to nip it in the bud by, essentially, conquering the ME.

I didn't know that Clark subscribed to those views.

4. Oh good lord no!
If you knew anything at all about Clark you'd know about how batshit crazy he's always believe about any such lunatic plan for the Middle East was. For quite some time he was a lone voice in the wilderness.

Good speech from Clark that talks about this particular plan and how whackadoodle it was. That part starts a couple minutes in...

5. Thankyou
That was my understanding.

There is a big difference between describing and endorsing.

There are a lot of things to admire about Clark--and I can't help wondering if things might have turned out differently in '04 if he had run with Kerry instead of Edwards.

6. the OP was rather unclear on whether or not he endorsed this
Maybe taking for granted everyone would know that he wouldn't have... or maybe trying to make it look like he endorsed it for some reason.

7. I thought everyone knew about the list and that it was not his idea

But I don't know the whole book or don't how Clark thinks.

There is always the accusation about wanting to start WW3, but I don't know...

No sooner are we told by Britain's top generals that the Russians played a crucial role in ending the west's war against Yugoslavia than we learn that if Nato's supreme commander, the American General Wesley Clark, had had his way, British paratroopers would have stormed Pristina airport threatening to unleash the most frightening crisis with Moscow since the end of the cold war.

"I'm not going to start the third world war for you," General Sir Mike Jackson, commander of the international K-For peacekeeping force, is reported to have told Gen Clark when he refused to accept an order to send assault troops to prevent Russian troops from taking over the airfield of Kosovo's provincial capital.

2. iran can fire back plus there`s still ground forces in iraq
since we are incapable of fighting another ground war an air attack would do nothing but kill a lot of innocent iranians. i also doubt turkey will want hundreds of thousand of of refugees streaming across it`s borders.
