I'm pretty damned excited that there's a rally tomorrow!
I'm bringing my son to the rally in front of the Boston State House tomorrow. I told him tonight that we haven't had anything like this since I was about his age (11), that for 30 years the rich people have been paying the politicians to pass laws to take money from everyone else and give it to them - there are a few good guys, for example most of the elected representatives from our Commonwealth.

On the way over I'll teach him a little about organized labor.

I understand that almost 1,000 people are signed up for this event alone.

Cheers!

3. Excellent! I heard a caller from MA on the Randi Rhodes show saying he was
going to NH - I wondered if maybe MA wasn't having any? Glad to hear and I hope your son learns a lot and has fun! (And stop telling him nasty things about Obama! :spank:) :hi:

6. Mass not participate? Unthinkable!
While I'm thoroughly tired of the winters here, I think we have the most dedicated Liberals in the country. The temperature may be low, but the human warmth compensates.

11. Now that I'm thinking about it again I recall he said "because I live in MA, and..."
So now I'm thinking he may feel MA has it under control :7 and maybe NH needs some more bodies to show up?

My parents were from Boston so I've always had a warm place in my heart for it. That's a beautiful sentiment, Manny, I love it when people love their home cities.

Send pics!

in northern MA, which may put him closer to the NH rally than to Boston.

9. Well, up North to you!
I'm pretty close to the MA/NH border, looks like Boston will have a great turnout. Concord NH has less signed up and I suspect it will be more teabaggy, so they may need some Masshole reinforcement :)

That's what I did with my daughter, when I discovered at her age 2 that she is stronger than I am, and we never looked back. She is now a successful LIBERAL independent business woman.

Yes it has started manny... and I think it is making many people nervous.

I hope we outnumber them, but Move On says only 600 people have signed up. (The "only" was mine, not Move On's.) Maybe there will be scads more!

35. I Googled it and there were articles mentioning that the SEIU and other unions were
organizing support, too, so I'm encouraged. Those RWers have so much support and backing, and they LOVE to show up and tellus how much they hate the government and unions for destroying our country. Why couldn't they just leave us alone? :grr:

37. It is a war...
this is our war.

And right now the odds are really bad if you are a bagger. Look at the numbers last week in WI... (official).... 3000 bagers, 70,000 people. At atlanta on Tuesday it was something like 1000 pro union and 35 baggers... so think about it.

And at this point... that scares me, that they will decide to go hot... I mean Michelle is still searching for them union thugs.

And yes it is about intimidation, why I call them FASCISTS... and people object when I say they are our modern day brown shirts, or black shirts... the latter is not too familiar.

41. Don't understand why people would object to that, although our government
is kind of brown-shirty, too. I think of the removal of the man protesting Clinton's speech (Hillary), when Bush put demonstrators in what were essentially cages, how our Justice Dept. is going after people's Twitter accounts in its witch hunt for WikiLeaks "collaborators", stuff like that. It's to the point where I just assume Big Brother is ALWAYS Watching. :scared:

Gonna go have to look up black shirts - you're right, not familiar w/that. :hi:

22. New
I could not start a new thread...too new on the board.

What I want to say is that we will get nothing done writing to each other. We have to get off our asses and go protest in front of the criminals that are stealing our liberty and money. I am guilty of hoping someone else will do it for me...I bet you are as well.

If there is to be any real change, WE have to show up in person and DEMAND it.

Can we get an organized forum for DOING something rather than just talking about it?

29. Welcome to DU!
I share your sentiments.

There is an Activist HQ forum, but it's hard to do much until a lot of people viscerally know that they're getting screwed. I think we're finally making some progress, and I'm thrilledthrilledthrilled.

Ever read the Vonnegut book "Player Piano"? It's a great demonstration of how these things work.

36. Moveon.org -- have at it.
All you need to do is key in your zip code and show up tomorrow at noon in your comfortable shoes.

DU has an activist forum, if you bothered to familiarize yourself with the site before accusing DUers of sitting on our collective asses. Check out the Florida forum to see what's going on in your state.

49. Have at what?
I appreciate the tips if not your defensiveness. My remarks were aimed at everyone including myself, sorry you took it personally.

Moveon..no events within 200 miles, but I will continue to check.

Florida forum on DU, two facebook links. I don't do that.

I joined the Democratic party in Port Charlotte about 18 months ago...only 2 people showed up for the meeting. We are terribly out numbered here and I think the few that are not never-rights feel any efforts are futile.

I'm afraid as your moniker states...things are going to get a lot worse, and I fear they will not ever get better.

43. I'm too ill to go, so I do hope someone goes for me. I live in
Louisiana, and our protests will be in Baton Rouge at the Capitol. I wish we had an organized protest in Lafayette, LA. We have a lot of progressives in this town, but as most of you know, this is a red state. We really need to show em. Please everybody that lives in a red state, try to get out and show progressive support. Unions brought me to this party and I hope they will be the saviors of our earth. We are really needed now. It's time to show up.

P.S. If you have the flu, as I do, please do not show up.

Unless all the sidewalks are completely shoveled (just a narrow lane for the ambulatory won't do), a wheelchair can't get through.

I'm going a bit stir-crazy at this point, waiting for the thaw.

Turn north at Pittsfield MA and keep going until you hear people singing "Oh, Canada!" in the distance. Put the car in reverse. Back up about 40 miles. That's where I am, three blocks in from the west coast of New England :)

I just did a quick MoveOn search:

--476 signed up in Raleigh, NC
--339 signed up in Richmond, VA
--190 signed up in Columbia, SC

Niice, nearly 1,000 have signed up for the rally at Dupont Circle in DC.
