WISCONSIN ... Graham Nash, your services are needed!

In need of a rewrite:

Please Come To Wisconsin!

VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4CmRB0hed8

Original Lyrics to Chicago:

So your brother's bound and gagged
And they've chained him to a chair
Won't you please come to chicago just to sing
In a land that's known as freedom how can such a thing be fair
won't you please come to chicago for the help that we can bring

We can change the world rearrange the world
It's dying - to get better

Politicians sit yourselves down, there's nothing for you here
won't you please come to chicago for a ride
don't ask jack to help you `cause he'll turn the other ear
won't you please come to chicago or else join the other side

We can change the world rearrange the world
it's dying - if you believe in justice
dying - and if you believe in freedom
dying - let a man live his own life
dying - rules and regulations, who needs them open up the door

Somehow people must be free I hope the day comes soon
won't you please come to chicago show your face
From the bottom of the ocean to the mountains of the moon
won't you please come to chicago no one else can take your place

We can change the world rearrange the world
It's dying - if you believe in justice
dying - and if you believe in freedom
dying - let a man live his own life
dying - rules and regulations, who needs them open up the door

1. K & R. You know the interesting thing about the Chicago Seven is
Edited on Fri Feb-25-11 10:42 PM by truedelphi
That they could have all copped a plea and the charges would have been dismissed with maybe each of them getting a several hundred dollar fine.

But the guys wanted to prove a point - that the situation in our nation was drastic, that fascism was on the loose. That a certain war was unnecessary, but being fought mainly because Powerful Interests stood to make lots of Big Bucks.

So they made a sure that they were tried in court, and that way certain truths would come out.

And so then they ended up getting Judge Hoffman, who was a notorious RW ass wipe.

And they could have been locked up for many years, except the jury had the common sense to see to it that they weren't.

You could be talking about 2011.

3. Ahh, not really. The jury convicted five of them.
They were sentenced to five years in prison. The appealed to the Seventh circuit and the verdicts were reversed because of jury pool bias. The government decided not to retry them.

4. Thanks for your correcting me.
The SF Guardian (or one of the other weeklies) came out with the whole enchilada, and unfortunately when we moved, I lost my box with that issue.

The article laid out what the Seven all did and how much Kunstler helped the cause.

Glad to have the facts restored. My brain has too many senior moments.
