I'm placing bets on minimum wage laws. For job creation, you know.

5. There going to go right down the list. Toppling one after another as the
momentum builds and I bet they have all of their talking points ready to sway the masses of willfully stupid in the US today, convincing them it is for their own good, getting rid of these socialism things sapping the wealth of the country and their money.

6. That's already in the works in Missouri.
A member of the state senate there (GOP, of course) has introduce a bill to eliminate many restrictions on child labor. http://inthesetimes.com/working/entry/7002/missouri_legislator_wants_to_increase_child_labor/

3. Minimum wage, and then benefits.
The ultimate goal is serfdom for 99% of us. Once there are no minimum wage requirements they'll start in on benefits. Overtime? 40-hour work weeks? Lunch breaks? Vacations? Forget it. And don't even think about insurance or retirement benefits. And while they're at it, they'll get rid of workers' compensation and OSHA.

29. The bosses don't want to make serfs out of us... that would cost them too much.
"Serfdom was the enforced labour of serfs on the fields of landowners, in return for protection and the right to work on their leased fields." (Our friend, wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serfdom)

The key bit is "... in return for protection and the right to work on their leased fields." The bosses don't want to have to protect workers... workers make better soldiers & cops than the children of the bosses after all... and they sure as shit don't have any intention of granting the "right to work on their leased {insert appropriate workplace}"...

If you think about it, that last snippet isn't far off from what the unions are pursuing with the power of their collective bargaining rights. Hell, we might all be better off as serfs these days... trade in the right to walk off a job and try to live as a hobo for the right to work in your chosen profession—might be a good thing for a lot of folks.

Think about it one more time... what is being used to "leverage" workers into giving up pay, benefits, overtime... etc.? That's right... the threat of stripping them of the opportunity to work at all. :+

14. That's their ultimate goal.
After all, they were deprived of their rightful "property" when slavery was abolished so now it's time to pay up. They need another group to exploit nd since the Constitution doesn't prohibit discrimination against poor people, they are the perfect target.

And by "they,", I mean us, as in "anyone that's not in the top 1%." If you think you're safe because you earn a nice salary, think again. You're next on the list. It's only a matter of time.

28. They don't want slavery back.
You have to feed and clothe slaves. They want vast hordes of homeless, and destitute people who they can hire for a day or two at a time when absolutely necessary, until they can replace all human workers with robots. Pay them next to nothing, and then kick them to the curb when they are too weak to work.

16. Private unions have already been 'busted'
There's a far smaller proportion of union-supported households in the US than there were 50-70 years ago. That makes it easy for the Rethugs to play the divide and conquer game they're engaged in with public worker unions right now.

There's also this "it can't happen anymore" mentality out there with regard to health and safety laws, the five-day work week, overtime pay, and a host of other issues. The funny thing is, when we say, "Unions got laws passed that guarantee you those things," it actually undermines our future, because we then look irrelevant, since the laws have changed.

We need to sell the idea that those laws could very well change back without powerful voices in opposition.

that wants to repeal child labor laws, removing the prohibition against working children under the age of 14.

18. Kasich is already getting rid of overtime and prevailing wages.
and these will pass the state house. and so will SB-5.

The only way to deal with this assault is through the courts, I'm afraid. Then we'll at least get some definitive rulings about welching on pensions, and other basic labor issues that seem to up for debate all the sudden.

26. Child labor laws
are already in play in some places. Minimum wage and anyone who makes more that it, unless you are a "small business owner". Small business owners are the ox that cannot be gored, our "sacred cow", the font of all wisdom, growth, and jobs. Of course no one considers that they are also the source of the most unemployment, the most waste, and the most fraud and abuse, because individually it is all small scale stuff.

is to turn us all into slaves. They'll continue to take gradual steps, though, so that by the time people notice, it'll be too late. They're diabolically clever, those guys at the top...and patient. They put this plan in place decades ago, and they're not giving up.

Unemployment compensation.
Fair wage laws.
Child labor laws.

There are a host of benefits that could go poof. The question is how long will it take the 80% of Americans who are not millionaires to finally realize that they are getting screwed? That they are screwing their children and grandchildren.
