The Wealthy Elite's one-two punch: Citizens United and destroying Unions.
One thing I always noticed about the MSM's coverage of the Citizens United decision was that they were, without exception, always careful to lump in Unions with the Corporations when supposedly "explaining" what the decision meant for campaign funding.

The typical line went something like this: What this means is that corporations and UNIONS will be able to spend unlimited amounts on advocacy advertising in election campaigns. As if the spending power of corporate interests would be somehow matched by the spending power of Unions.

Which was always ridiculous on its face, but false equivalency is the core modus operanti for the MSM by which it shores up its nonsensical claim of "balance". We all know how it works: The "far left" is just as extreme as the far right", although no examples of this mythical extremist "far left" are ever given.

So, after all these months of "balanced" coverage in regard to the Citizens United decision, lo and behold, the next phase of right wing activism, destroying Unions, is well underway.

Are any of the apologists for Citizens United going to make note of the fact that one half of the allegedly "balanced" equation that supposedly was going to benefit from this decision is being driven to extinction?

I won't hold my breath.

1. Yep, all part of the SCOTUS plan. Make Citizens United seem balanced between
corps. and unions, crazy to begin with, and then destroy the unions. Next will be the continued assault on Medicaid, then Social Security and Medicare. Then, eliminate the minimum wage. Americans will be reduced to peasants and then bring jobs back to America for extremely cheap at home labor.

Then throw in religion to keep the masses in line. It's all the plan, so blatantly obvious what's going on, but Americans have their heads in the sand and as usual are easily manipulated. And it should be obvious to all now our gov. is just a corporate subsidiary.

3. "it should be obvious to all now our gov. is just a corporate subsidiary." True, that.
It's maddening isn't it. But people do eventually rise up, it may even catch on here. :)

6. Excellent analysis.
It does indeed appear that this has been the plan all along.

7. Thank you. It's clear that "the plan" has long been corporate control over our government.
The whole thing about Citizens United being beneficial to Unions was always bullshit. The idea that anyone would seriously believe such nonsense simply added an extra frisson of amusement for the Elites.

8. Very good points
I remember the sporadic outbursts of M$M propaganda around the time of the decision. OH NOES!! Unions contribute more money than corporations!!111 There were even a few (allegedly) left leaning pundits who cranked out articles about the 'plus side' of this exciting new power for unions.

It all looks so FAIR and BALANCED, no?

What bullshit

9. Thank you so much -- it's maddening isn't it!
The greatest irony is that so much of the demonization of Unions is based on the big lie that Unions have all this power -- yeah, right.

I'm so tired of living in a bizarro world dominated by lies. :banghead:

10. Yeah, unions have lawmakers over the barrel
They've got several dozen state govs and legislatures ready to roll out bills to limit and/or break up corporate monopolies......
