Obama signs Patriot Act extension into law

President Obama on Friday signed into law a bill that extends three Patriot Act surveillance authorities until late May.

Obama signed the "FISA Sunsets Extension Act of 2011," which refers to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Surveillance authorities under that act were extended in part by amending the USA Patriot Improvement and Reauthorization Act.

With Obama's signature, the ability of the United States to access business records, conduct roving wiretaps and monitor individual terrorists is maintained until May 27. The administration has said it supports a longer extension, and the Senate next week will begin working on a three-year extension.

9. What in the hell did we elect? He's like a political hermaphrodite...

with both sets equipped but one or both being non-functional. I think the Repug habit of referring to our IMPOTUS as "Zero" may actually have some merit. He's apparently a bi-partisan fucker-upper.

15. When will democracy come to the USA?

So much talk about unions, but nothing on this subject in the media. Haven't seen any discussion of the Patriot Act issue. Have you?

And LOTS of media discussion about Democracy coming to the Middle East. What of democracy right here at home?

Why aren't people in the streets here? Do we define democracy as something that gets fed to us
with a silver spoon and without our voice or participation?
