Newt Gingrich says Allen West would be a good choice as VP running mate in 2012
I never cease to be amazed at the way that nothing ever sticks to certain Republicans. Gingrich appears to be seriously talking about running for president. He said he will make a decision in a few weeks.

Gingrich says Allen West would be considered as his running mate

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said at a Republican Palm Beach County fundraiser that if he won the Republican presidential nomination, he would strongly consider a Floridian as his running mate.

“Allen West would certainly be someone you’d look at,” Gingrich told NBC affiliate WPTV.

West responded, “We don’t know what the future holds, but I’m always willing to serve my country.”

“I have to pray about it and I have to clear it with my wife and two daughters,” he added. “I never thought that seven years ago when I retired here I’d be a United States Congressman.”

More on this interesting topic of Gingrich and West as running mates.

Allen West leaves door open to 2012 VP slot

"Allen West would certainly be someone you'd look at," said Gingrich.

West seemed surprised at Gingrich's comments.

"He said that?" asked West.

Florida has never had a candidate on a national ticket, and GOP Representative Tom Rooney says West already has a high-profile for someone who has only been in office a few weeks.

"When we walk around Capitol Hill, all the national reporters know his name, they don't know mine," said Rooney.

Rooney says it would make sense for a Republican contender to pick someone like Representative West or another young GOP star, Senator Rubio.

Gingrich is amazing. He has the teflon coating that seems exclusive to Republicans, no matter their personal history.

The news that Newt Gingrich is headed for his second messy divorce, allegedly involving a longtime affair with a House of Representatives employee, has been largely ignored by news media that have not always been as sensitive to the privacy needs of major politicians.

It's true that Gingrich is no longer in Congress, where he orchestrated the impeachment of the president of the United States over charges rising from Bill Clinton's sexual dalliances. But Gingrich, through his many public appearances, remains a self-appointed definer of the Republican Revolution, which counted family values at its core. These very values are called into question if the married speaker of the House was having an affair with a much-younger congressional employee who ultimately reported to him.

Critics of Gingrich have long made much of the insensitivity he demonstrated in serving his first wife with divorce papers while she was in the hospital being treated for cancer. Nor did news of his efforts to cut life insurance coverage for the mother of his children always endear Gingrich to his family values supporters, but it was generally assumed that his marital errors were in the past.

This time, his approach was less personal. Marianne Gingrich told the Washington Post that she was informed of the affair and the request for a divorce last May in a telephone call from Newt to her mother's home, where she was visiting.

And Allen West for VP? Well, he is gaining his own reputation in other ways.

6. Please understand. He can make the monogrammed towels now if...
I wish everyone would understand...

If the nation looks like it DOES TODAY in November 2012, the Repub WILL WIN.

I just paid 3.87/gal 10 minutes ago... high gas prices mean the "pseudo recovery" will grind to a halt. Unemployment is at least 10.0% any measure showing it's lower is smoke and mirrors. 2 Wars are consuming bodies daily...

The Healthcare Reforms will never come to effect. They will be starved into blackness in the budget. People will see not a damn thing come out of Obama's 4 years... a few Trillion in debt and that's it. No one will give a rat's ass about Lilly Ledbetter or the order to close Gitmo (which never closed).

Right now... if things continue... if Americans are allowed to boil for 21 more months...

Obama WILL be a one-term wonder and say HELLO to:

President Elect Newt Gingrich and Vice President Elect Allen West.

36. Republicant Party Will Not Have A Chance.
.

Any 'responsible adult' in the Republicant Party will not have a chance to stand against Mr Obama. First said candidate will have to wallow in the trough of the Fox Network 2012 Presidential Primary which is in full swing right now. The stench of Fox will never wipe off.

Would he then have a higher security clearance than himself? I'm sure he'll make claims to such effect...

Gingrich says Florida home to four potential 2012 veeps

by George Bennett | February 24th, 2011

WEST PALM BEACH — Former House Speaker and potential 2012 presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, arriving at tonight’s Palm Beach County GOP Lincoln Day dinner, says several Floridians could end up on the Republican presidential ballot next year.

“Florida has two and maybe three potential vice presidential candidates right now, maybe four if you count Jeb Bush,” Gingrich said. He mentioned Sen. Marco Rubio, U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation and Gov. Rick Scott.

Gingrich says he’ll announce his presidential plans within a few weeks.

.....

I cannot even imagine what this state is going to look like after Rick Scott and our right wing-infested legislature have another year to trash it.

These are indeed, very dark days for us, madfloridian.

West is a complete nut who tortured a detainee in Iraq.

He makes angry John McCain look like "happy little trees" Bob Ross in comparison.

That is unless he's flip-flopped on his long-standing practice of cheating on a wife for several years with someone who will be his next wife.

29. K&R...Well, at least Newt CALLED her...He is possibly the biggest sociopath in US
politics, and he has always been an incredible liar and hypocrite. He received Federal government financial aid throughout his entire education, from grade school through college-as did every other public school student in the US, then was paid by taxpayers as a member of Congress and now as a retiree. Yet his fame is as a basher of public employees and tax supports for every social program. He has NO morality at all, and will probably find a lot of support when he finally does declare he is running...He started running last year when he declared he was not running in a press conference.

And he is dangerous that way. I just saw a video of him on the Greta Van Susteren's show. The scary part is that he makes his extremism sound sensible.
