In 1984 Marta voted for you in the Ne. Primary. I voted for Mondale. We
both voted for you in the 88 primary. To top it off, we took our 3
children to the downtown mall to hear you speak. The next morning as
people across the state read the Omaha paper, a photo of you standing
next to the podium clearly showed our two grade school daughters
standing next to you. A very beautiful rainbow coalition picture worth a
thousand words. We still talk about that from time to time.

Then came a let down in 2005. You traveled to meet with Terri Schiavo's
parents. We were for death with dignity. It was the first time we ever
felt you let us down. It has left us with a bad after taste that has
lingered.

Then tonight a nation saw much of the old magic that brought you so
close to the nomination in 88. Speaking of workers rights, with so much
for ALL America hanging in the balance. Any bad taste has been FULLY
wiped away.

Even though you never left the minds of many, a middle class that is on
the ropes will remember this night. Remember it until the young students
standing up for their future around you in Madison tonight have left the
face of the earth. Our family knows this. Just ask our daughters.

Earlier in the week, I posted an OP that detailed what Jesse's platform was in his 1988 presidential primary run. DUers should take a good look at it -- it is everything that the democratic left has been advocating for here on this forum.

3. This brings back memories

I slept on the Teamsters local hall floor in Nashua during Jesse's 1988 NH primary campaign.

Best thing about Jesse is that he's outstanding at showing up to help the underdog. Foreclosed farmers, displaced factory workers - white or black or brown or male or female or whatever - he's there. Can't say that about many.

4. I heard that he called the Tea Baggers "Turkeys at their own

Thanksgiving". Very apt description.

A guy who lives around the corner from me is a firefighter and works for the next town over (East Haven CT). I'm assuming he's a union member. His pickup truck is covered with RW stickers - McCain/Palin, 3%, Tom Foley for Governor, etc. I wonder if he will ever figure out that they are not on his side..........
