Ed Shultz support thread! He's been there for us!
Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 10:45 PM by senseandsensibility
Ed's on fire tonight, and he doesn't exactly sound elegant. Heck, he even said at the beginning of his rant that he's past caring about style. So am I. Style will do nothing against the corporatists trying to take away workers' rights. Thank you, Ed. Please chime in if you appreciate Ed's coverage of WI and labor issues.

8. I support Ed, however, I disagree that the President should go to Wisconsin.
The story would quickly switch about the movement and turn to all the criticism from the right about the President. Right now the world is supporting the unions and that is where the focus should stay. The President should concentrate on finding a way to keep oil prices low from all the turmoil in the Middle East.

What he's said so far is luke-luke warm and less than inspiring. They are his base and he should defend them.

102. Wisconson voted anti dem last time
so he will wait to see the results of the stand off. He gains nothing by going there but ED is passionate and always bing critical of Obama and advocating primary challenge every time Obama; doesn't see things the same as he does, contributes to the low dem turnout in the election.

43. I must agree.
We need a REAL Democrat, not a fake one. Obama worked at a CIA front company as his first job out of Columbia University, BIC. That's not a rumor or a conspiracy theory, that's a fact. Now whether or not he was CIA is entirely up to everyone else to decide, but I certainly did not know that when I voted for him. It doesn't make me think McCain would have been anywhere near "better", but I'm getting awfully sick of voting for the lesser of two bad candidates.

Can we choose to vote between some people that weren't pre-ordained for a change?

23. He's very emotionally vested... I can appreciate that...
It does make one go for the maximum in rhetoric and in ones expectations for involvement of others, including elected DEMS right up to the President. Also makes it difficult to see competing issues...

Ed Schultz has his whole heart and soul in this fight. He'll get little criticism from me, even if he does go "hyper" in his rhetoric.

According to a USA Today/Gallup Poll, 61 percent of respondents "would oppose a law in their state similar to one being considered in Wisconsin," with 33 percent in favor of such a law.

37. He actually disappointed me tonight,
to tell you the truth. It's been such a great news day. I was feeling a little hopeful tonight. It felt like the right team finally had a real chance of moving forward. The bad guys were being exposed. A lot of people were saying and doing the right thing. And then he started in on the president. He couldn't leave just one night of hopeful news alone. One night without a dem bashing a dem would have been nice.

But, I guess that would be asking too much of him and his cable program.

88. Tough times need tough people. These are tough times, and Ed Schultz is the man of the hour.
I have been disgusted to hear some of the things Jon Stewart has said about MSNBC over the past months. Jon Stewart is just downright wrong about MSNBC. I can hardly watch Jon Stewart any more.

This is not the time to sit on the fence.

I have never belonged to a union. But I know full well that I owe and owed my education, home ownership, the 40-hour week, child labor laws, good nurses in hospitals, good teachers in public school classrooms, annual vacations, sick leave, overtime, minimum wage, Social Security and all the other things that make middle class life bearable to those now long gone who walked picket lines and did without to support their unions.

Thank you to union members.

May the union movement rise once again to defend the values of American working people.

100. I have to admit, I wasn't an Ed fan when he first came on Air America.
He was too conservative for me. I have totally changed my opinion of him! Yeah, once in a while I still think he's hit a clunker and his POV is too conservative for my taste. Overall, though, I think he's great. I love that he's a good ole boy, too -- I think he can reach folks who are turned off to the more, I dunno, esoteric & intellectualized types like my fav, Thom Hartmann.

So you get my vote, Ed -- keep giving them hell!

104. Ed,
thank you for speaking up and continuing to keep the pressure on the most important issue of our time. As the Koch brothers and their stooge puppet, gov 20 minute talker Walker try to undermine and destroy union barganing, and in fact unions all together, you have been steadfast in your coverage and support. When the unions win, and they must, you will go down in history as having been one of those who helped save all that was fought for the last 50yrs and won buy union negotiations that today help us all to have better working conditions, 40hr weeks, weekends, minimum wage, child labor laws, benefits packages including health insurance and on and on and on. We cannot fail to win this fight and thanks to those like Ed Shultz, we will prevail and protect the middle class from being totally destroyed by the likes of the Koch pigs and all the wacko Republicon Teabagger office holders around the country doing their best to destroy what has been hard fought gains for the average human being. Thank you Ed Shultz.
Lou
