Mike Huckabee: The gays are making dads become deadbeats
Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 10:28 AM by ck4829
Prospective 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has slammed President Obama's decision on DOMA, saying that dirty queers are behind the nation's crisis of deadbeat dads. Or something.

"I'm deeply disappointed," Huckabee said. "They are clearly out of sync with the public." Huckabee noted that 33 states have affirmed, via ballot initiatives, that marriage should be between a man and a woman. "When the voters are so overwhelmingly (supportive of DOMA) what does the president believe he knows that citizens in all these other states don't," Huckabee said. Huckabee opposes gay marriage on the grounds that, according to him, it destroys traditional families. "There is a quantified impact of broken families," Huckabee said. "(There is a) $300 billion dad deficit in America every year...that's the amount of money that we spend as taxpayers to pick up the pieces because dads are derelict in their duties."

Somebody call Wingnutistan and get a translator on the line.

Next week from Mike Huckabee: Did you know that our nation was filled with gay people when the Enron scandal happened? Think about that. Coincidence?

1. I clearly have not had enough caffeine--what the HELL does he mean?
I would ask what the hell he was thinking, but that is a mental process clearly foreign to the reichwingnuts

6. I think I can translate his twisted logic:
1. Gay marriage makes heterosexuals not want to marry (becuase it "destroys" the notion of marriage).
2. When guys get girls pregnant and don't marry them, then they go on to become deadbeats.
3. When you destroy marriage (by allowing gays to marry), even fewer guys will marry their pregnant girlfriends, and therefore even more will become deadbeats.

Ergo, gay marriage causes deadbeat dads.

3. What does being gay have to do with deadbeat dads and divorce?

4. The argument is actually kind of simple, if wrong headed
They believe that Gay Marraige reflects and reinforces a culture of permissiveness in which it's perfectly ok for Dads to abandon their kids and go of and have sex with all kinds of people. If society stood up and said "No sex!" or "No sex outside of marriage!" than these Dads would realize their plans to go off and have sex would not be societally permissable, and would stick around.

15. still doesn't make sense Dad leaving mom to marry another dude
doesn't make it ok to have sex with all kinds of people. Surely Suckabee isn't arguing married people can't get divorced and marry another women? I mean Saint Ronald Reagan DID THAT! There is no there, there to his argument.

16. Actually there's a good chance Huckabee would like more strict divorce laws
I don't know what he would say about Reagan's divorce, but it could well be "Look sometimes marriages go bad and we have to have compassion at those times. But we don't want to make it easy or permissable for divorce to occur. We don't want a society that looks at families and children as a burden, but instead recognizes that they are the whole point to ouer society."

18. The problem with that line of non-reasoning is, of course, that deadbeat parents
have been around a lot longer than same-sex marriage. Saying that gay marriage will cause broken families is like saying that the iPhone caused the Great Depression.

8. Once we infect the straight guys with the gay agenda, they leave their
wives and have to keep all their money for rent boys, parking fees at airports and such, so they can't spend it on their kids.

At least, given GOP gays history it makes sense.

9. So for Mr. Huckabee, marriage is primarily about fucking and men leave because they don't like the
indoor plumbing in the bedroom - and FURTHERMORE - they will take up the decision to abandon their children in a quest for fancy new outdoor plumbing based on Obama's announcement regarding DOMA.

Just. Wow.

10. Talk about a reach around.
I would suggest that low wages and lack of opportunity in a declining economy ruined by 8 years of Republican rule has a lot more to do with deadbeat dads and divorce than anything.

11. Quick Recap: Lots of Hetero Men are deadbeat dads.. so don't let the Homo's Marry...?
Wow... talk about making leaps & taking bounds to get to a point that you want to make that doesn't really even exist.

FACT: A much higher percentage of GAY couples don't have kids then Hetero couples

FACT: Less kids = less opportunity to be a deadbeat derelict dad

FACT: Less deadbeat, derelict dads = less needed taxpayer support

FACT: Huckabee should embrace gay marriage - it's far more FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE!

Ohh.. wait.. that's not REALLY what's important to the right. It's just what they talk about when they aren't in power.. i forgot.

"I like ol' Huck - he's a nice guy - but he can't be President 'cuz he's crazy!" "Yeah?" "He thinks the Earth is 6000 years old, and the Bible supercedes the Constitution." " Yup, he's off the list....."

21. Sooo let me understand - if a man leaves his wife and children because he is gay, he doesn't have to
pay child support. Is that what Huck is implying? I can't think what a person's sexual inclination has to do with not paying child support.

My straight husband owes thousand of dollars in child support. So if he was gay, he would not be a dead-beat - just gay - which is waaaaay worse - according to Huck.

I'm getting a headache from all this silliness.

23. Let's come to terms with all the propaganda.... The haters can't win...
The haters have nothing to hang their hate on..... Broken families are broken because they are broke.... Nothing destroys a family quicker than shipping a man's/women's job to another country... Nothing destroys a family quicker than not providing affordable access to medical care.... Show you really care and stop kicking the families and start helping them...

Yesterday you sounded almost like a sane, reasonable human being, when you said the First Lady's obesity initiative was a good thing (which was just stating the obvious, so it's not like you get a medal for that). Then you blow it today.

Shame, shame, shame!
