More and more the world seems this way, in the year 2011. How prophetic was that great film.

Take out "emptying reservoirs" and fill in the blank: "school reform", "invading _____ ( fill in another blank)", "extending tax breaks", "cutting the budget". And so on.

I'd like to make a bumper sticker out of the above. Or a button. Maybe just "Emptying reservoirs".

Forget it , Smarmie. It's Chinatown.

1. GREAT movie! And if you haven't seen

The Ghost Writer (2010), also by Polanski, you absolutely should get it right away and watch it.

2. Good movie. Requires a bit more patience than Chinatown.

As in.... willingness to take the premise at face value.


Chinatown becomes more and more prophetic as the years pass.

It's almost a friggin' documentary at this point.

(Not withstanding the outstanding film making from beginning to end.)
