Attention Governor Corbett: There is Another Gas Well Explosion in Pennsylvania
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 09:57 PM by blue neen
http://www.wtae.com/video/26973534/detail.html PLEASE, check out this video!

Governor Corbett, could you please comment on your plan to deal with the almost daily disasters we are experiencing here?

Could you please tell us when you are going to stop the Marcellus Shale Pirates from burning and pillaging Pennsylvania?

Oh, yes...and one more thing...could you please announce when you plan on charging them an extraction tax, JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER STATES DO?

2. Here's a different video that really shows how much natural gas is burning:
http://www.wpxi.com/news/26972881/detail.html

Look at what is happening to our air, our water, our forests and wildlife. This is nothing but out and out greed.

We have been working for the last 50 years to clean up this state after what the coal industry did to it. Now we're supposed to put up with this? Huh-uh...I know a lot of people getting more furious by the day.

6. They keep talking about the jobs the drilling is creating. Hmm...
I don't know of a single person who has found a job working for any of these oil companies. From what I understand, they've brought a lot of their own people from Texas.

4. Corbett is just another Repuke that only cares about making the rich richer
Edited on Wed Feb-23-11 10:16 PM by Kievan Rus
Our bridge, surface road, and mass transit fund is hundreds of millions of dollars in the red. But, like any good Koch Brothers disciple, instead of putting forth special taxes to (gasp) make his fracking buddies pay their fair share on their profits, he'd rather they get rich while people lose jobs from transit cuts and our roads and bridges deteriorate.

He may be smarter than Governor Walker in Wisconsin, but he believes in a lot of the same Ronnie Raygun economic policies...tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, and the cutting of essential government services.

Unbelievable...and our Governor is in these companies' pockets.

It's so nice that Governor Corbett welcomes them to our state to make enormous profits, yet they pay no taxes on those profits--no fees to cover the enormous damage they are doing to our environment and infrastructure--no consequences for the impact on the injured and their families' lives.

Here is an update on the story:

http://www.wtae.com/news/26973100/detail.html

Fifteen fire companies responded...Will the citizens of Pennsylvania be footing that bill, also?

9. Of course we'll end up paying
Going by the Walker playbook, Corbett will say we have to cut 'x' (something that benefits the poor/seniors/children) to pay for these 'unfortunate anomalies'

10. Corbett has announced he plans to cut the number of Medicaid recipients.
I have heard that among those he plans to throw off of Medicaid are children with severe disabilities.

11. Here's a quite interesting interview and update from KDKA Radio:
http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2011/02/24/avella-gas-well-explosion-investigation-continues/

These guys are basically admitting they don't know what caused this fire/explosion. If that is the case, then why is the well-drilling continuing? They are talking about "wet gas" and "dry gas"...the "dry gas" has more methane. This is scary as hell.

There are lives at stake, Governor Corbett. This cannot continue to be "Drill Baby, Drill" in Pennsylvania and other states if the technology and education aren't ready for it!

Western Pennsylvania is not just a "Supply Chain".

12. It wasn't a gas well explosion
It was a fracking tank explosion. Which does make you wonder just what they use to frack those wells.

13. That's the scary thing about it, though...they didn't know what it was.
Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 04:30 PM by blue neen
They don't know what caused the whole problem...in the meantime, the drilling continues unabated, and even the drillers don't know how to keep it safe.

If you have a chance, listen to the radio interview...it's quite telling.

The whole state could end up in an inferno, and Tom Corbett will fiddle while Pennsylvania burns.

Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 04:44 PM by RamboLiberal
Blow 'em up & let all that crap spew around Mike Pintek's and Marty Griffin's backyards. Let Marty's "babies" breathe in all the crap and drink the polluted water.

I swear Griffin must be on the payroll of the gas companies with the lies he spews about there never being any provable pollution and tainted wells.

16. Maybe Marty could explain to us how the families of these workers are feeling today:
"Three workers were taken to hospital following the fire.
Two of them, more severely injured, were flown from the site,
the DEP spokeswoman said. Both were "acutely ill", said a
spokeswoman for the University of Pittsburg Medical Center
where the two men were sent."

(Reuters needs to learn how to spell "Pittsburgh"!)

I hope they will all be okay.

15. Corbett repeals policy on gas drilling in parks
Gov. Tom Corbett has repealed a 4-month-old policy designed to minimize the environmental impact of Marcellus Shale natural gas well drilling in Pennsylvania's parks.

The policy repeal could hurt recreation and the environment in Ohiopyle State Park and a number of other parks in the western part of the state where oil and gas companies are seeking drilling permits, according to the former director of the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which manages the state's parks and forests.

Notice of the repeal was published last week in the Pennsylvania Bulletin. Michael Krancer, acting secretary of the state Department of Environmental Protection, and several Corbett spokesmen have termed the policy "unnecessary and redundant."

The DEP notice said the department, which has permitting responsibilities for oil and gas wells, would continue to review and consider comments about drilling on public lands from all interested parties.

17. This state is moving into the Dark Ages.
I know we have been bleeding jobs, and are at a point of desperation, but this is just not the answer. Jobs for Texans and Oklahomans. Shitting in our back yards. This state may never recover from the damage they are doing.

How did this asshole get elected anyways?!

18. Money, lots and lots of it, especially from the Texas and Oklahoma oil companies.
Corbett is cutting services to the most needy in Pennsylvania, from seniors to disabled children---meanwhile, he won't charge extraction taxes to the OIL GRIFTERS who are POLLUTING and PILLAGING our state.

It's beyond infuriating, beyond unfair, and the citizens of PA need to wake the hell up and smell the coffee (which right about now smells like methane).

for failing in his fiduciary responsibility towards the citizens of the state
The citizens own the natural gas and should get paid for it
