According to our 11 O'clock Nooz, Lara Logan has been released from hospital
She is at home, recovering.

That is great news. She seems a very strong woman, but I can only imagine how this can injure more deeply than any physical injury. I wish her the very best.

I am made to wonder . . . was this an actual rape, or was it something considerably more evil? There are cultures where rape is used as a form of war; a means to intimidate an enemy population. Could this have been such an act against female reporters; maybe against all media? Obviously it *could* have been. I am thinking it may well have been.

1. Yes, that's actually MORE Likely in this case
However, until we know if these rapists were pro or anti government we won't know. Cause the pro-government ones were intimidating reporters.

2. My impression right now is that
it was a lot of groping and some hitting.

I hope to hear that she is ok and gets right back to work. I love Lara Logan.

Shades of Jessica Lynch: I've been unable shake this uncomfortable feeling that this "brutal sexual assault" will end up being "walked back" to exactly what you're suggesting.

4. The Jessica Lynch story line was wrought by the bushies to benefit the bushies
This was entirely the reportage of CBS about one of their own. Who benefits from a fabrication?

on CBS Sunday talk shows.

5. There ISN'T anything more evil than rape, if you ask me. I spent
much of my life wishing my rapists had just killed me, it would have been far kinder to me than letting me live with the shame and memory of the rapes.

Might have been rape with a political motive, but that doesn't make it more evil. Rape is already maximum evil.

7. What you say is what I have heard many times from rape victims. I don't think
anyone who has not been in your situation could EVER understand and know what you go through as a result.

Thank you for telling it like it is for rape victims. We would do well on DU to pay attention to what you say...

9. Thank you.
I never reported mine and I refuse to judge other victims. I've had to resign myself from case work (I'm a paralegal) because of it.

6. The thing I'm wondering is which group was this? Was it the pro-Mubarak crowd
that was roughing up journalists recently? I haven't read anything on that point. Perhaps no one knows.
