people were fed up, they did not understand who was at fault.

They are beginning to understand that the shellacking was backwards.

I mean this has got to carry on until Scott Mubarak capitulates. THEN he needs to be recalled.

One thing I have noticed. In the reports I've read RE: crowd size, it's gone up every day. Monday it was 10k, yesterday 15k, and today it's 30k. Now THAT'S what's encouraging. It's not waning, it's actually getting BIGGER.

31. lemme see, 30k in the streets is not large
and strikes are critical, but this is closer to the great marches that led to silly shit like yes, labor organizing. This is the scale of this. Those included strikes, and I am waiting for at least regional strikes to be called, if not outright national if this develops the way they have in the past.

Of course I am paying close attention to this... perhaps, maybe, this will be the true beginning of THE fight we have lacked for at least twenty years.

Probably just a teensy bit high, even for a Madison protest event.

33. 30K = 30,000
So 30K thousand = 30,000 * 1,000 = 30 million. I don't think that's what you intended.

But 30,000, which I think is what you meant, is very impressive.

This was my first post in this thread. Maybe you confused me with someone else?

I was simply pointing out an error in your subject line. 30K thousand = 30,000,000 which is obviously a mistake.

I wasn't arguing that 30,000 isn't large. I'm on your side. Just pointing out what I found to be a humorous error.

I think 30,000 is fantastic. I love it. I'm all for it.

Sorry if I upset you. :hi:

On Edit: I think I see what happened. You confused me with Brickbat who pointed out the same error.

A sick-out is not a strike, and if you are counting strikes, this is not the largest.

43. Nadin, people keep asking YOU to read your own subject line again, but you keep arguing with them
Edited on Thu Feb-17-11 12:03 AM by tblue37
and even saying one time that someone is being "nasty" to you. No, they are not. Except for the colored fonts to highlight the important parts, this is an exact copy-paste of your subject line:
30K thousand people at Madison... read that again

K is an abbreviation that means one thousand, so 30K ALREADY means THIRTY THOUSAND. When you say 30K, you are saying thirty thousand. All done.

But you did not say 30K. You said 30K THOUSAND.

Believe it or not, I am not trying to be particularly obnoxious with all the bolding, italics, oversized fonts and different font colors. I am just trying to get your attention. Two other posters have pointed out to you that your subject line says 30K thousand, one poster trying to explain it more than once, and every time you come back with the same retort that 30K means thirty thousand. Yes, of course it does. That's why you do not need the "thousand" after it.

I must assume that you simply have not actually gone back and looked at your subject line, and that you therefore do not even realize that you have BOTH the "K" and the "thousand" there rather than just the "K", and that that is why you are so annoyed with the posters that keep trying to tell you that you made a mistake. You seem to think that they think "30K" means 30 million, but that is NOT what they are saying. They are saying that 30K thousand = 30 million, because 30K thousand is what you have in your subject line, NOT "30K."

Obviously it is too late to edit the subject line, but you could add a reply to the OP and maybe even to the two posters who tried to tell you about it, acknowledging that you did write 30K thousand, not 30K, and explaining that the "30K thousand" was just a typo that happened because you were so excited about the 30,000 people who were protesting.
