NARAL Pro-Choice New York and the National Institute of Reproductive Health have hired an auditing firm to investigate whether their former president defrauded the organizations, a NARAL official said Tuesday.
An early draft of the audit shows that Kelli Conlin spent $100,000 on a car service, $22,000 on meals, $17,000 on a summer rental in the Hamptons, and $5,700 on clothing from 2008-2010, according to a report aired by YNN's Capitol Tonight. The NARAL official would not confirm the contents of the draft.
Conlin could not be reached for comment. The auditing firm, Marks Paneth & Shron, did not return a phone call.
Conlin was fired in late January following eighteen years of service, the NARAL official said. At the time, the organizations – which are funded mostly by foundations and private donors -- said only that she was "departing."
