...they do about it?

When it's happened before -- i.e., the 60's -- a few well-placed "Lone Nuts," the seizing back of popular culture, the looking-the-other-way as drug epidemics ransacked communities, etc. were enough to take care of the disruptions.

What will they do about it now?

And while those elites could scarcely give less of a shit about America as a country - to say nothing of its non-billionaire citizens -- they need "America" as the source of military projection to keep other places in line.

And they need our citizens outraged/deluded/broke enough to keep providing the cannon fodder.

What happens if actual democratic winds - not the mere illusion of "voting" for an "alternative" -- wind up blowing in this direction?

1. Egypt may be the beginning of a wave that could reach the west
Atlas may be shrugging after all, and not in a manner that Ayn Rand would like...

3. The State Department tweets over the weekend
were about Secretary Clinton meeting with international leaders to explore the "way forward" for Egypt and the region. Of course, she didn't seem to be meeting with any Egyptians. So, the answer to your question seems to be "yes".
