That's some pretty political music that won at the Grammys last night
Edited on Mon Feb-14-11 06:26 AM by cali
some of the lyrics from Muse's Uprising:

Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end, we have to
Unify and watch our flag ascend, so come on

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on

Muse won best rock album last night.

And oh yeah, Arcade Fire, a subversive indie band from Canada won the big prize, Album of the Year.

1. I noticed that..
... and that wasn't the only song. In fact, its the first time I'd watched the grammys in a long time, it was a much better show overall than a few years ago.

2. I don't know why I care, but I'm glad that Muse and Arcade Fire
and Esperanza Spaulding won over Bieber and Lady GaGa.

7. It gives us real music lovers hope.
All that pop music looked stupid last night and didn't win much at all. Maybe this is another turning point for music?

4. Muse's performance was mind-blowing
Edited on Mon Feb-14-11 09:02 AM by Oilwellian
The new technology they used to create the stage as they were singing the song was awesome. I can't even begin to describe it. At one point, a bank appeared over them at the same time they sang the refrain They will not force us, They will stop degrading us, They will not control us, We will be victorious, so come on. Then the second half of the song, the bank is engulfed in fire and the entire background is on fire. At one point, my husband looked over at me and said "holy fucking shit!"

I'm featuring the song on my YouTube page. Rock on Muse! You stole the show last night!

I'm hoping someone captured their performance last night and puts it on YouTube. The graphics were stunningly cool! I want to see it again! :hi:

8. Kinda kicking myself for blowing it off.
After reading an article in Sunday's paper on how this would be the year of Enema M and the tween seat puddles that is Beiber feiber and not all that thrilled by Madame Gaga I chose to fart , again, in the Grammy's general direction. I deserve the blowback. }(

Pleasantly surprised (I really like Arcade Fire). Sorry I missed the Avett Brothers, too.

9. I'm so happy that the corporate pop tarts like Bieber and GaGa got their just rewards,
I'm so tired of schlock passing for quality, this is surprising and refreshing, almost makes me regret not watching last night.

15. Beck mentioned Muse on his show once...
...and only moments later there was a statement out from the band saying they wanted nothing to do with him.

I love Muse, "Hysteria" is one of my favorite songs ever.
