(Sorry about the 30 second ad spot, but I don't know another way to post this.)

2. he was at the right place, at the right time,...
and he did the right thing. but what really makes the goal is that the ball went into the net at an angle, speed, and height that i doubt any goalie in the world could have stopped the goal.

4. Soccer: The Real Football
Awesome goal. That's why it is the world's # 1 sport.

By the way, the link also includes a number of other news items one of which deals with cricket in Los Angeles. That's the world's # 2 sport.

5. It is a great goal but...
Rooney's going to have to score consistently to justify his salary. It's not about pretty....it's about quantity.

8. They have taken the video down over copyright claim.
So stupid. People like me who never watch soccer, could see this and get interested. Instead, I will watch basketball.

14. Excellent, excellent goal. Golazo.
Perhaps his confidence will start to come back and he can return to 20+ goals a season form. I've never really liked the guys attitude but it has been hard to not feel sorry for him since the World Cup. He just hasn't been himself at all.
