Give the Republicans a reality check
If ever there was a time for the silent majority to rise up and let itself be heard, it is now.

The loudest group in the United States over the past two years has been the Tea Party. Yet look at who the Tea Party is. According to a New York Times poll, only 18% of Americans identify themselves as Tea Party supporters and they are wealthier and better educated than the general public.

Republicans say they have a mandate. But recent polls consistently show that the majority of Americans, while wanting the deficit cut, don’t what programs cut, whether it’s the big ones like Medicare and Social Security or domestic programs like education, anti-poverty programs, and farm aid.

The silent majority must make themselves heard … they must call or email their Congressmen to let them know that they do not want these programs cut because it will further depress the economy and increase unemployment. If they do not, the consequences for the nation will be dire.

1. I think that poll is bullshit
From my personal knowledge of a few teabaggers and from what I've seen of them on TV, it's awful hard for me to believe that they are better educated than the general public. And the ones I know sure aren't wealthier. A lot of them are living on some sort of disability (real or faked) and they soak up fox news disinformation like a sponge.

And look at the clowns they elected. Educated people simply do not vote for losers that want to do things like shut down the government just to get back at what they perceive as programs that favor minorities.

4. You aren't a poll
A poll is a statistically representative sample of the group being studied. Your personal observations may be very different, as indeed were mine. But if a poll is done properly, it is accurate and provides us with a better picture of a situation that our own observation can. And again remember, the poll said that the majority were better educated and better off financially ... that leaves room for many who are not. As for electing clowns, there is no accounting for some people's judgment, even educated ones. Look at all the educated people who voted twice for W!!!!!

5. Me too
I'm not a poll, either. However, the TPers I know are either non-employed, under-employed, on some type of disability income, and white with HS diplomas or less.

But, again, I am not a poll.

6. The squeaky wheel
They got air time because they made so much noise and were such a presence. You know the old saying, "The squeaky wheel gets oiled." Well in this case, it's the squeaky group gets media coverage.
