"We won't accept Gamal"
I mean, seriously, Hosni is 83 - fair enough. But I'll bet these folks were just thinking, "old man, we put up with you for all these years, but no way in hell are we dealing with your twerp-ass little son - this family is done." Get out while the gettin' is good.

Just like Ooty and Cooty. If we'd let Iraq play out with Saddam, I'm sure the Iraqis would have done the same thing with those two - no way in hell. Unfortunately, Shrub decided to treat the Iraqi citizens like 3-year olds - "we know what's best."

Saddam was 69, not 83 - sure. But, he was not a world traveler like Hosni. 83? I saw reports about his ill health, but every time I saw him on tv, all I could think was, "dang, he looks good for 83 - who did that eye lift?" He didn't think twice about getting the best medical care London and NYC could provide - a fortune of several billion helps, I'm sure. Saddam? His parochial ass never saw beyond the border of whatever locality hosted the Arab League. 69 going on 89, I'll bet. And those kooky sons of his - there is no way the Iraqi people would have put up with that nonsense.

I'm sorry they didn't have a chance to show the world that they could bide their time and do the right thing on their terms. They deserved that, at least.

Hosni Mubarak over the last 30 years to the Egyptian people: "1 for you, and 5 for me." (In US dollars, of course, to our shame.)

I hope some assets are being frozen. Thief.
