That is so unsettling.

1. Not people. A Republican focus group that watches Fox News.

Says more about Fox News than people.

13. And my UPS guy, my FEDEX guy, most of the sales reps that come into my office,
the local restaurant owner, my USPS delivery guy, some of the husbands of my staff.

Lotsa guys who drive around a lot. All with OxyRush, BeKKK, O'Lielly, Insanity, etc, are on their radios all day. It's either that or synth pop dance. They choose the former.

Of course, I'm in Miami. :banghead:

2. This is GOOD.
He's ripping up Steve King.

"When JFK gave a speech at the Berlin Wall, did your constituents think he was German? That seems to be the logic of your constituents."

----->> Lawrence O'Donnell :yourock:

4. Yeah, King has been on O'Donnel's show before and he's also been savaged by O'Donnel before.
He will take quite a beating for the airtime, apparently.

5. Doesn't anybody remember the flap over Rev. Wright?
Either most people aren't paying attention, or they'll believe anything. I'm afraid it's probably both... :(

24. Most catch the nightly news, at best, and they have short memories.
And that news is reduced to a series of "sound bytes." :(

11. I'm afraid you are right on both counts.
Either most people aren't paying attention, or they'll believe anything. I'm afraid it's probably both...

Even people who are employed to report on these things sometimes have short memories.

And there are a lot of people out there who will take a hoary urban legend in a forwarded e-mail for the gospel truth but put up a fight when anyone confronts them with facts.

Getting back to O'Donnell's show, King looked wimpy for maintaining his talking points while L.O. hammered him.

23. And then there's the favored RW tactic
Of repeating a lie over so many times, and with blatant confidence, that it becomes common belief. They've had luck with that one in the past. x(

As for Lawrence's guest, I don't think he knew what he was in for. Not many in the media, these days, actually confront or challenge anyone, no matter how foolish they appear to be... :(

7. I don't know. I watch how quickly people on DU are willing to believe the absolute worst as well
Edited on Wed Feb-09-11 11:35 PM by Pirate Smile
and then I'm not surprised at what the RW is willing to believe. Segments on both sides seem perfectly willing to ascribe the worst motivations to President Obama without even batting an eye or waiting for confirmation or explanation.

8. Well, we have DUers who think Obama is a Republican.
And the threads that make such claims are allowed to go on and on and on...

... so why should we be surprised by much of anything anymore?

10. Video lasts forever....
Stewart does a good job reminding us of all the campaign promises broken by Obama in order to continue Bush's policies, or expand on them.

So, that's a tough one for you I guess.

16. he is...because politics have shifted so far to the right
look up republicans from the 50`s and 60`s. there were a lot more "liberal republican"- voted for social issues and conservative on economic issues. they were willing to work with the democrats on many issues.even reagan and tip o`neal found common ground but that stopped with newt`s revolution.

20. And then look up the actual context of the liberal Republicans of that time.
They would not be welcome in the party today.

Spend some actual time learning history, then get back to me.
