Accessing WikiLeaks Violates Espionage Act, USAF Says
February 7th, 2011 by Steven Aftergood

............

Then, in an astounding interpretive leap, the AFMC went on to say that similar prohibitions apply to the relatives of Air Force employees.

“If a family member of an Air Force employee accesses WikiLeaks on a home computer, the family member may be subject to prosecution for espionage under U.S. Code Title 18 Section 793.”

This is a breathtaking claim that goes far beyond any previous reading of the espionage statutes.

..............................

If taken seriously for a moment, the AFMC guidance raises a host of follow-on questions. What if a family member accessed WikiLeaks on a computer outside the home? What if a non-family member accessed WikiLeaks on the home computer? What if one learns that a neighbor has accessed WikiLeaks in the neighbor’s home? Is the Air Force employee obliged to intervene or to report the violation to authorities? And how could any of this possibly be constitutional?

5. Well lets see.. What state can be made into a prison state?
Edited on Mon Feb-07-11 07:33 PM by AsahinaKimi
Just remove the current residents to other states, and make an entire state into a prison state. Which state would you use? Utah? Arizona? South Dakota? Nevada?..Maine? California? Rhode Island? Florida? Mississippi? Idaho? New Mexico? Alaska? New York? Pennsylvania? Sorry, Hawaii is not eligible!

8. The solution to this execution of our rights would be to edit the wikileaks web
address so it looks like something else and create a viral email with it, send it to millions and billions of people including the ones we pay to decide what to do with our money... then let the chips fall where they may.

14. How can they expect to keep track of who accesses Wikileaks?
The USAF can't even keep track of their own damned nukes.

18. Jets are falling apart, airmen are committing suicide in record numbers
And the USAF is going to devote its resources to...punishing someone who accidentally saw something on NYTimes.com

I know they can, I'm very familiar with USAF counter-intel, it just seems...petty.

19. Heh heh! And the best part is who faces prosecution? Family members of the military!
Jesus, it's like how much can a military institution shoot itself in the foot. I'm sure military families are used to being shat on by the government but this is just ridiculous in the extreme.

If they bust anyone for this it'll certainly won't be anyone with a skin shade lighter than coffee. What a terrible joke. It's a testament that people in the armed services put up with shit like this...and are still willing to fight and possibly die for our country.
