Case against Assange peculiar, court hears
Defence counsel called the first witness, former Swedish appeals court judge turned academic Brita Sundberg-Weitman.

"I think it has from the very beginning it has been extremely peculiar," the heavily accented Ms Sundberg-Weitman said.

In Sweden, she said, Assange's guilt has already been decided and he has been labelled a "coward" for failing to return and answer the allegations.

"It's rather hostile," she said of the Swedish attitude towards Assange.

1. Jag förstår inte vad som händer här.
Why the hell are the Swedes all undies-in-a-bundle over Assange anyway?

3. Them Libruls just get laid too damn much, and he's got more groupies than a rock star.
The "Conservative Right" hates it when anyone else is having too much fun.

You can't call yourself "conservative" without pretending to be sexually chaste, no matter who you're actually banging.

Dead hookers or live boys - or horses, chickens, octamoms, teenage hookers, Haitian boys, etc....

5. You think the people after Assange could ever be described as Liberals?
There's a niche for the RW in any and every political system - especially when they're doing the bidding of outside interests. Y'know, the people Assange is exposing?

Direct links to the U.S. government (re: not prosecuting for torture and rendition - basically, STFU) have already been exposed.

Any valid points to this case have drowned in a sea of questionable acts by the witnesses and prosecutors.

6. No, I assume that the people trying to get Assange
are international corporatist hegemonists. I was commenting on Swedish culture, not on the sinister forces that may be in play there.

7. They weren't, but they are being used. And Karl Rove has some friends in high
places in Sweden. The lawyer who injected himself into the case has some odd connections also.

It's a smear job, which the CIA document posted on Wikileaks site long before this happened, threatened as a 'means of discrediting him'. I don't think anyone outside of Fox News viewers believe a word of it.
