"A tea party effort to unseat Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., is starting to pick up steam."
http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20110207/NEWS07/302079986

Indiana state Treasurer Richard Mourdock indicated Saturday he will challenge Lugar in the 2012 Republican primary election, according to the Journal & Courier in Lafayette.

“We are very excited; we feel like it’s game-on now,” Monica Boyer, co-founder of Kosciusko County Silent No More, a tea party group based in Warsaw, said Sunday in an interview with The Journal Gazette.

Tea party organizations will have a caucus at some point to back a single candidate to oppose Lugar, she said. Whether a contested primary hurts Republicans “is all speculation,” Shine said. But if Lugar is challenged, and if Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels runs for president and Rep. Mike Pence, R-6th, for governor, “Indiana is going to be one of the hottest political spots in the nation in 2012,” Shine predicted.

Tea party activists have been critical of Lugar’s positions on immigration and nuclear arms reduction and his votes in favor of President Obama’s choices for the Supreme Court.

1. Why am I not surprised that this is taking place in Warsaw?
Maybe they can bring back public book burnings just like the good old days.

I have family members throughout that area and I have heard some stories that make me glad that I don't live there. Altoona, PA. isn't that much more enlightened, but Kosciusko County is truly cursed with too many fundies.

At least my family members don't adhere to the regional ism of bigotry, racism and xenophobia.

2. From the article I read in the Indy Star yesterday
Mourdock is not claiming the Tea Party "mantle". He actually praised Lugar as a true conservative, so I wonder what his "angle" is?

3. Do Democrats ever try to unseat republicons..
I get tired of hearing about how somewhere is a republicon area, situations change and people change especially during this time if we see some of the republicons bullshit.

I am sure there are some republiCONS who may have seen the light by now as they sit their asses at home, watching republicons tell them that they are going to ship even more jobs overseas,no unemployment benefits, cuts in ss,medicare and medicaid..

what in the hell is wrong with these people. Many of these stupid mfkers will vote in even more CONS but I really believe they have stolen many seats in many of these counties for years..
