400 Super Bowl fans sent home because seats unsafe
Source: Associated Press

Cowboys Stadium wasn't ready for the Super Bowl.

About 1,250 fans were displaced because their seats were deemed unsafe - 400 who were sent home, and 850 who were given somewhere else to sit. The NFL said safety was the reason and promised a review.

1. It's all Jerry Jones' fault!!!
If he had spent more money on safety of the seats then having his picture posted everywhere it wouldn't had been a problem.

4. Considering how much money those tickets cost they're probably hugely disappointed
They'll get the face value cost of the ticket refunded, so if they bought the ticket from someone else then they lost out.
I'd be curious if their travel expenses will be reimbursed.

8. That's nice
It's nice to hear thay aren't getting screwed out of their money

Thanks for posting this

Do you know if it's the NFL, the Cowboys or both that are doing the refund? (I live in Asia so I get very little on the Super Bowl)

10. The article doesn't say
Edited on Sun Feb-06-11 06:29 PM by tammywammy
I don't know who "sells" the tickets, I would assume the NFL since it's an NFL event. But there's really no telling. There will probably be more info on this on tomorrow morning's news.

edited to add: It's the league that's refunding the money, per this article:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ys-angryfans020611

For fans who don’t eventually get granted seats, the league will issue refunds “triple the cost of the face value of their ticket.”

12. Face value x3
"Those turned away will be given a refund of triple the face value - however, $2,700 for $900 tickets may not be enough for folks who paid much more to scalpers, not to mention travel and hotel costs. "

6. Local sports show here in Dallas
Two Pittsburgh fans who paid 800 bucks a piece for tickets - the league gave them 2400 each. Still, that may not have covered their expenses for the trip. As a matter of fact, I kind of doubt it.

9. All of their travel and lodging expenses where based on having those tickets. They are going to
need to pay them more then just the ticket price X3.

What a screw up.

11. Yeah, their net on the tickets is 1600
That surely didn't cover all the expenses of the trip.

15. It may have.
I went to the Olympics in Vancouver last Feb and spent $1500, including tickets to two events, hotel, and plane tickets.
