Just returned from lunch at the local restaurant/sports bar (for today
at least) with one of the sons. The Raygun stuff started and the crowd went wild with "Shut that s$^% off", "Put it on mute 'til this crap is over!" and on and on. Poor barmaid was going nuts. I could tell there were some rightys in the room and son and I were covertly looking around. One very annoyed couple got up and left after the shouting about turning the shite off or muting it. Son and I had a joyous lunch....DON'T EAT THE FISH, if you're coming down here. This particular restaurant is going to take it off the menu, very sad. Anyway, thought you'd get a kick out of that. Son thinks there will be a lot of booing if it starts at the stadium, the beer will help...LOL.

4. The east coast of Florida. Many of our stores used to get their
fish from the west coast, no longer.

2. just the fact that you said that
"don't eat the fish" - should be front page news. yet it's as if the spill never happened. bp's got commercials of people talking about how they were made whole and come on down, we're ready to feed you...you know?

i mean i'm just assuming you're referring to fish being taken off the menu due to having been contaminated and/or wiped out by bp. correct me if i'm wrong.

3. You are exactly correct. Over on the other coast the fish places are
closing one by one. Jimmy Buffet's sister has a very nice restaurant and bar over on the other coast and rumor is she's going to close down. People come down here to relax and especially enjoy the fish they can't get up north. You can taste the oil in it, I've tasted it and had to spit it out.

6. Was down there chatting with the folks a few days ago
looking for a local paper (found the last one in town) 'cause it had an ad for tax prep.

Word is that it's marginally losing money, they've cut back on waitstaff a bit, the marina is still strong 'cause anyone who could afford a boat before still can. I think they'd keep it open for the time being, understanding its role in our community, unless it was absolutely hemorrhaging money.

8. We still have heavy machinery on the beach all the time.
It's very unattractive, to say the least.

13. When you live on the gulf coast, everything is interconnected with don't eat the fish.
It's worth mentioning anytime you're relating a story about eating around here.

14. Sorry, I sort of jumped from one topic to another. I live in Florida and
we had lunch in a local restaurant. Delicious. After telling how the people wanted nothing to do with the birthday bash, those who know me know I live in Florida. Don't Eat The Fish is our standard to our northern friends who frequent the places down here. We are tasting the oil, and it's not good. I did jump from one thought to another. Hope this helps.

16. O. I C.
My parents live down there and I've never heard them use that phrase.
They don't eat the seafood though.

At least not from the gulf.
I'd be willing to though.
Rather that instead of some made in china seafood.
