To even treat the hand-picked henchman of Mubarak, a known torturer, as one deserving of anything less than imprisonment seems odd at this moment. If either he or Mubarak are permitted even a so-called "powerless" position for the next half year, it doesn't bode well for a fair election or for the treatment of the opposition during that period.

A California based technology company Narus has allegedly sold software to the Egyptian government that allows the Egyptian government to track on line activity. The company is owned by Boeing.

This is not the first time that the company has been in the news. Back in April of 2006 it was accused of being part of a massive NSA surveillance program:
